Every error in football can be tied to some type of individual mistake, despite the conversations about the system. Was also true during Xavi. He was fucked over by the weaker squad just like Flick. The question is what can you do to improve the defense despite the known issues.

Flick and Xavi had different methods to tackle the same issues. Xavi protected the weak defense by playing a type of often ugly, end justifies the means football, Flick is hoping the attacking power bails out the crappy defense.

The biggest positive for me yesterday coaching-wise was the fact that he changed the system when he needed to. It's been years since we have done that. He recognised that we needed more bodies in the box. I said that at half time in the chat... Go 4-4-2 or something because we need to make space on the wings, with Fermin on the left. Up to that point Rapha and Yamal did nothing due to limited space and Tractor wasn't occupying the CB's enough to force help from fullbacks in the box. He did go a different way with 3-5-2, but still recognised the problem and solved it. Great subs too.

Players let him down massively, but he adapted and overcame the issues. Good coaching performance. Also seems to have installed the never give up mentality into the team.

I have come around since the club entered an austerity period starting with 2021. 4 years ago now. I was more critical of the management when the club was spending money left and right. In recent years, with the money that was spent on improving the squad, no home stadium etc., the club has done a good job.
