He surely would be worse. Paco is not a troublemaker. HBA is one, who would unsettle the dressing room with his antics. Also lazy and entitled.

It seemed for a while at Nice that Ben Arfa had figured out life. But as soon as the transfer window started, he said something very close to "there are 18 clubs monitoring me" and I knew he was back to full retard.
I think the locker room would have mostly ignored his complaints, Ben Arfa for 0 is still a much better transfer than Paco for 30 mil. But that's not saying much

Ben Arfa could've joined Nice during the deadline day of transfer window, but he rejected.
Can't blame him though for staying though as Ben Arfa's contract with PSG expires next year and want to enjoy the money.
I remember how this guy was once seen as the next big thing at Lyon 10 years ago or something.
Heck, he was even recognized as a better player than Karim Benzema among the masses

Arda is not a troublemaker. And as useless as he is most of the time he can still give you a random hat trick in a CL match when you have to rotate half the squad and provide rest for important players. In league or Copa games too.

In spain you can't demote players to reserves(B team) due to age restrictions.
If a player is 23-27 years old and they play for the B team it's fine. However if they play one game for the Main team they can no longer play for the reserves.(B team) the only way you can deal with Arda if he was a trouble maker and refused to leave, the only way we can deal with him is if we just unregister him from the League/CL.
But even if he's not in Valverde's plans he isn't a trouble maker as in not making the lockeroom poisonous to a point where the players despise him so that's probably a reason why the club didn't take it that far yet in not registering him in the league.

The thing is, he was free. Didn't really stand to lose anything if he were willing to accept low wages and a 3 year contract due to his age. But I suppose he might have been a potential locker room problem with his attitude. Didn't really care either way.
We have made worse signings (like Paulinho at 40m).

True, cannot really expect Balotelli to be rolemodel, even if he ages, then again, there have been plenty of cases where player in correct environment has sort of calmed down and found his place and turned his fortunes around.
