Hi From Sheffield England - Question Re Barca v Deportivo

Hello to All.

Hope somebody can help.

Me and my son have tickets to the last game of the season for Barcelona v Deportivo. We are in staying in Salou..

I know kick off times and days aren't set for spanish games until a few weeks before the match, but as this will be the last game of the season, do they, like in England, all play at the same time on the same day ?

Thanks for your help

I am also going to this game and am anticipating a 3pm spanish time kick off either on the Saturday or Sunday. I'm just judging that on what it's like in England as you said but I'm sure someone will help.

What I remember happening in previous seasons is that for the final 2 or 3 rounds of matches, all games where the outcomes affect each other are played at the same time. So you may have 3 or 4 games involving relegated teams at one kick-off time, games with the top 2 or 3 teams at another, and games fighting for the other European places at another time.

Looking at the final day's fixtures:

Athletic Club vs Villarreal
Levante vs Elche
Barcelona vs Deportivo La Coruna
Granada vs Atletico Madrid
Rayo Vallecano vs Real Sociedad
Eibar vs Cordoba
Real Madrid vs Getafe
Celta Vigo vs Espanyol
Almeria vs Valencia
Malaga vs Sevilla

Deportivo may well be fighting relegation, which would mean the Barca vs Deportivo game (and hence the Real Madrid vs Getafe) games being played as the same time as those of all the other relegation-threatened teams.

So the short answer is that I don't think you will know the exact day/time until perhaps the week before - if Deportivo are safe (and Getafe remain safe), and if the title goes down to the last day, then I would expect the Barca and Real Madrid games to have their own timeslot, different to all the others.

Remember, Spanish football fixtures are controlled by the TV companies, and they will want to maximise the number of different kick-off times, which means setting them as late as possible.
