It's mainly about getting the picture taken with one of your idols(if you idolize a player from your favourite team, that is). I'm the same in that I don't give a shit about meeting famous people, but if the chance arose(such as winning a competition or something which required minimal effort and/or paying no fee) then why not? I wouldn't treat them different to any other human being though, just because they are famous doesn't mean they deserve to be treated special.
