Iker Casillas

He was the only resemblance of class and identify left at that club. He more than probably any other person on this planet could explain how much the club has degrigated in the last decade. Shocking, I feel awful for him. This really is a bit humiliating, like he was the problem.

Them treating Casillas, their icon and captain since Raul, this way proves how much of a farse they are currently. Mou started all of this, Perez finished him, all because Iker wanted to try and at least have the appearance of being a club with class but that was apparently incongruent with Perez's business plan.

Proof that money can't buy you happiness.

Never thought I would actually defend Madrid but I'll make a execption for this one.

For me, it's bullshit when many in this thread accuse Madrid for 'not being loyal' to Casillas. In fact, they were over-loyal. Casillas was one of the big reasons why Mourinho left the club. Diego Lopez performed fantastic, and was still sold to keep Iker. Navas was bought, but didn't get a fair chance. Real basically gave up on one of the world's best manager and 2 great keepers (easily in better form), for Iker, who was underperforming throught those last years. And Madrid are the bad guys you say?

That's without mentioning the 'rat' accusations, the leaks, even this last week Casillas made sure he got every penny he could get from Real.

No one's bigger than the club. We've seen Xavi, Zanetti, Raul become bench players, when other players played better. Casillas is simply not good enough professionaly for RM's ambitions. And with De Gea available, a young, great Spanish keeper, Madrid made the right choice. Letting Casillas leave respectfully and moving on.

Mourinho had 3 years with the most stacked team in the world and didn't do shit. It was time for him and his shitty football to go somewhere else.

Lotta ignorance on display again....Local blue collar kid, 25 years as most successful keeper in the history of club & country.... If he's thrown under the bus, no one at that despicable club should expect better - damning indictment

There are good fans and bad fans in every club. But if we are talking in general, then real madrid, has by far the worst fans and I would say that even if I was a RM fan.

De Gea is an idiot if he comes to Madrid.

Yea, he must be such an idiot. To come to a club that's top 2 in the world, playing in the best league. And not to mention that he would be the starting goalkeeper for Spain, one of the best football countries. What an idiot.

He will be the starting goalkeeper for Spain playing for United as well, don't kid yourself about that. And he is an Atletico Madrid youth product. He should stay at United, one of the most important clubs as well, and steer away from Florentino and his circus caravan.

If by thrown under the bus you play 25 years of your life , captain the team for so many years & even when you are under preforming in your last 1-2 seasons you are still the Captain & still protected by the club and still playing as a starter & right before you leave you get the next 2 years remaining in your contract in advance despite that you are not released but moving to another club and on top of that the taxes is paid by your club ... i guess we all want to be thrown out under the bus , like PLEASE

... i reckon Greece turmoil came from someone with your school of thinking....

Great post

Too much shit & drama in the thread... Iker is leaving from the front door .. it was he who asked to be alone yesterday & the club made sure he get all he wants without exception and YET.. Perez did call Iker & asked him to come to the club today for an official farewell .. but i guess too much drama students in this thread

I don't get it. Couple of months ago they were booing their legend and now they cry about him leaving.

No it's quite easy.. the booing is from a single section in the crowd... that doesn't make them a majority just a louder voice fans ..
Yes Iker had some terrible times & made mistakes but it wasn't as bad as people make it.. and those same whistling fans cheered him moments later when he made a save..

I wanted him out this summer because he isn't the same anymore and his position isn't a position that can be covered by a team mate like other outfield players but i would never undervalue what he did for the club or forget his amazing talents..

Ehm, what? He declined significantly and even worse caused a lot of locker room problems recently. He was probably the weakest part of Real team last year, together with no proper DM. If Barca was at Reals place I would be glad to see him gone.

Casillas' decline was and is exaggerated. Real Madrid's defence was a fucking mess last year, no wonder they won shit. And their attack was more about Ronaldo trying to score to win the Pichichi and putting up tantrums whenever his teammates dared not to pass him the ball. Give me a break, they were a collective mess last year, and it had nothing to do with Casillas. Florentino had to chop off a head from the team, and since he probably didn't like Casillas, he spit him out like a bad tooth, especially when the new hot "poster boy" keeper De Gea is there for the taking. People trying to make Casillas as a poor keeper just to justify the actions of an egomaniacal mad man in the person of Perez. That's cringeworthy to me.

Was Perez the manager of the Spanish national team last summer too ? again Slovakia in the qualifiers last winter ? have you seen Atletico-Real 4-0 defeat ?
I love Iker but exaggeration of his mistakes last season isn't a fact.. i always said he is much better than Diego & Jose screwed up but seriously only someone who didn't watch Real Madrid last season would say Iker mistakes are exaggerated ... the defense was not in a mess when you let in so many shots from the outside of the box.. or you come up empty handed in any cross & ends up in your goal... still a magnificent club legend but he is not in the level for Real Madrid or any similar club status
