He didn't "dominate", but he is one of the few players that has brains and 'la pausa' ability to assess what's happening what better to do next. Problem is that he is old and slow so he can get overwhelmed easily by younger and faster players. That could be mitigated by great system of interplay, which we have not. With DeJong and Pedri, who have the similar level of brains and decision making, he should've feel comfortable, but unfortunately Xavi just isn't capable of creating any system at all, therefore all our best players, no matter how individually astute they might be, seem 'just okay' at best.
