BLASPHEMY!
All I have to say is for shame on Issac lol. He's better than that. Otherwise awesome performance. He will serve us well in Villa's place for now. Great to see that we have another great la Masia youth we can call on. Future looks bright :D

amazing performance. this kid's my new idol :) same age (he's 1 month younger), same position, same style. I'm so impressed! Best Barca "Newcommer" in 2011/12.

Very much like Di Maria in physicality and skills. Let's hope he doesn't imitate Angel's diving as well.

I was wondering why he took the dive instead of having a shot or putting a pass to a teammate. It is a bit curious that, when Cuenca is given the ball wide, his teammates tend to stop at the center axis of the field, so there are no close tikai-taka options. I'm wondering if that is an instruction from Pep: don't draw defenders into Cuenca's area, give him space to dribble and look for his cross. I think he has Pedro for a square pass near the top of the 6 yard box, then Xavi and Iniesta at the top of the penalty area. Xavi has come on a diagonal run to his position, but stops at the center axis and is walking while Cuenca is starting to work on beating his defender.

Here's the positioning when Cuenca first starts his juke run, and then just before he dives; no other Barça player moves into the near side of the box, or runs for a cross to the back post.

Cuenca is ok. "Ok". Now that's a perfect description of his skills if you ask me... for now.

He does the basic things. Feints he's cutting in, changes direction, runs down the line and gets his cross in. Does it pretty well so far (against BATE and L'Hospitalet) but looks a bit 1-dimensional and predictable after a while. Perfect squad player in my book. But I don't really expect "magic" from him.
