It's weird that between him and Tello, he's the one leaving. His injury really came at a bad time.

Tello will follow him suit once Deulofeu is promoted and Neymar is bought. A matter of 1 - 2 seasons. There is a reason why his buyout clause is kept at € 10 million.

1,000th post in the Cuenca thread. :worthy:

Sure because that's what this club does, extend a cantera player only to sell him after a year or so

Tello leaves only if he continues to see little playing time

That's exactly what this club does. Bojan, Jonathan dos Santos and Fontas say "hello". Of course we'll do it the Barca way. We'll loan him out and forget about the buyback option.

I didn't realize Jona & Fontas played much less were extended...Bojan was loaned out, not sold, when he failed to perform any longer

Try again

I thought he was better rounded and suited for our team than Tello but his injury determined his fate. Too bad we registered him as a first team member, he should of used a half a year on Barca B to regain his form.

Jonathan signed a new contract in November 2011. Fontas signed a new contract in October 2011. Bojan signed a new contract in December 2010. They were all dumped within the next 12 months (Jonathan soon will be). Which, according to you, the club doesn't do. Of course you have to revert to splitting hairs since your initial statement doesn't hold up and differentiate between loaning and selling although it's obvious that it's effectively the same treatment and none of Bojan, Fontas or dos Santos will ever be part of Barcelona's first team again. Which is the main point really.

If anyone was expecting Cuenca to come back and become the goal savior on the wings, your kidding yourselves. He'd fit in well playing right attacking mid at Valencia.

Please tell us how these players have what it takes to be starters for FC Barcelona in the future. They had their chance and weren't good enough. You're making it sound like Barça doesn't give youth a chance and just buys stars/hyped up youngsters (Neymar).
If you are good enough you will get your chance to show it. See: Valdés, Piqué, Puyol, Xavi, Iniesta, Busquets, Messi, Montoya, ... you get my point.
There's no need in keeping JDS or Fontàs just for the sake of them being from our cantera.

Now it's both Tello & Cuenca's time to convience the staff that they have what it takes to play for the best team in the world.

They don't. But I don't know why you are asking me this question. It wasn't me who denied that Barcelona may extend cantera players contracts but still rightfully get rid of them a year later if they don't fulfill the requirements anymore. In fact I wrote the opposite. That Rosell will buy Neymar is almost a fact by now. Deulofeu being our biggest upcoming La Masia talent is well-known since he was 12 when he was tied with special contracts and had a higher buyout clause as a kid than Tello has now as a 21 year old. So even after getting rid of Villa soon, it's obvious that Neymar, Pedro, Alexis, Deulofeu, Tello, Cuenca and Iniesta (yes, with Fabregas demanding a starting role, Iniesta will have to play out wide most of the time from now on) is way too much for 2 positions. Even NOW Tello barely makes the bench in most games, despite Fabregas and Cuenca being injured. Under normal circumstances you have Pinto (GK backup), Adriano (LB / RB backup), Mascherano (CB backup), Song (DM backup), Thiago (CM backup) sitting on the bench. Which leaves only room for another 2 forwards on the bench. Plus 2 wide forwards in the starting lineup. So with theoretically 7 or 8 wide forwards in the squad, 3 or 4 wouldn't even make the bench. So the least talented ones will have to get axed. Which in my opinion is Tello. That € 10 million buyout clause (despite several EPL clubs showing interest) shows how much the club values him. When Manchester United showed interest in Thiago, the club protected him with a € 90 million clause in his new contract immediately. Difference between a special and a mediocre, expendable talent.

For some reason though some people get all worked up about such simple observations.

I agree with you. Barca does often do the whole loan-out thing to get rid of some canteros. It gives barcelona a safe option so that if injury strikes and the squad is in turmoil, they can call them back to add depth. It also paves back a path-way in case they actually improve and become good enough to play for them. Cuenca is a lot better than Tello (obviously) however i don't see him returning to barcelona soon if he goes out on loan. As soon as he leaves, Deulofeu takes his spot and if he fulfills his expectations, he'll be pushing to be a regular starter soon enough. I don't want Neymar to come, but he most likely will so theres no stopping that. The problem is, that if Neymar flops he still will be played regularly because barca wouldn't want him to be a waste of his enormous transfer fee (i.e the reason why sanchez is played this often).

I just don't see the point of signing Neymar when Deulofeu will be ready to make 15-20 appearances next season and we have Tello/Cuenca.

You better just accept it by now, everything looks to him already being our future transfer of 40 mil. We should just hope he will be as deadly while Leo stays as effective.
Villa will most likely leave and so will allexis eventually, just imagine Neymar and Deulofeu for them.

How will Nemar flop ??

He's outscored Falcao over the last 12 months .

Third highest scorer after Messi and Ronaldo .

Never played in Europe and every time he's played a team with a decently organized defense, he fails. I'm not saying he will flop but it's a pretty big possibility
