Very nice match for Cuenca and he looked better than young Deulofeu. But then again he does have 3 years ahead of him.

I'll be surprised if he doesn't continue in the first team after these performances. Very talented kid and an huge asset to the team!

Also noticed that Alves really enjoyed playing alongside him yesterday. Too early to say, but their partnership looks deadly already.

Improvin' Perfection!!
What a cool finish... He's a good kid.

Is it just me or the celebration was really IBRAesque?

Have you all seen this video (in Spainsh)? A bit of history on Isaac and interviews with himself and parents.

Someone on reddit gave good cliff notes on the video:

Very nice report on the trials and tribulations of Isaac Cuenca in his journey to debut with Barça's first team.

Apparently, he left Barça the first time because he was much smaller than the other players (if true he must have been tiny because La Masía is not known for big players). Every time he came back he was sent off again to other clubs which was very hard for him. But even after being sent to Sabadell his feelings were very strong for Barça. His mother shows a picture of the team celebrating a cup and talks about how Isaac used to look at that picture and imagine himself some day celebrating as part of the team.

His family, with tears in their eyes and voices cracking, describe how happy they were the day they finally saw his name on the television screen when he debuted for the first team after all of his struggles and his father talked about how they opened a bottle of wine that Isaac had given him as a gift 10 years ago and that they were saving for a special occasion. Very emotional stuff. Now the uniform he debuted in is draped on his childhood bed under a poster of Cruyff's Dream Team and a picture of him as a little kid with Pep. At the end there is an interview with Cuenca where says that he understands his place is with the B team to help them win and to keep working hard to make to try to make it to the first team definitively. Humble, hard working, no wonder Pep likes him.

This kid has kept his Barça dream alive for a long time, it's hard not to root for him.

I can just imagine how overjoyed and proud his parents must've been to see him score his first goal for the club they and he loves.

Although in truth it will be hard for him to break into the side on a regular basis, it would be great if he can improve to the level where he demands a spot as the natural talent was there. He looked like he belonged when he played the other night - but I feel that he will have very strong competition from Gerard to climb into the senior squad sooner rather than later.

He could end up being a direct replacement for Ibi but he's years away from even being where Afellay is now, IMHO...Ibi has a great shot & nose for goal as well as possess the versatility to play in any number of positions...I like Cuenca, he's a kid that really had me impressed from the preseason...but does he have enough to do all that Afellay can?

I'd still stay with Ibi but it may end up being an issue of money as I imagine Afellay would be able to fetch a decent transfer fee and Cuenca is a free...It's not a like for like replacement for me though and I continue to think Afellay has qualities that no one, even in the cantera, possesses
