I'll be curious to see if Verratti plays in his place then. Apparently he started off as a trequartista before he dropped further back to where he traditionally plays now, but I wasn't watching him back then.

Very underrated is Montolivo
The more i look at this Italy team, the more i think there big contenders.
I also think they will be the team best on the eye (as they normally are) but people have stereotypical views.
Cassano, Giuseppe Rossi, Andrea Pirlo, De Sciglio are all very easy on the eye, a heck of a lot of flair in the side, with a solid back line & great central midfielders to boot. Always good tactically and play many shapes and can adapt to pretty much every style.
Very easy on the eye, and as always, underrated.

Yes i can, and do.
Rossi nobody should doubt, he screams quality & is great all round. & judging by the friendly against Ireland, looks it great shape.
Cassano when he applies himself is king, and i don't even like the guy.
Both have huge flair, and are a joy to watch tbh.

Is Rossi match fit though? Cassano used to be brilliant I know but surely his best days are long gone no?
Anyway I think its a toss up between the three of Italy, Uruguay and England going through. For me its too close to call. I also think Costa Rica shouldn't be underestimated either.

I can, don't take this performance today seriously. People thought they wouldn't go far in 2012 either but they made the final.
You forgot to say they're very easy on the eye.

Judging from the performance of that friendly, he looks in great shape, he already came back & recovered from a huge injury & hit the ground running like it never happened.
Cassano is coming off a great year at Parma, where he consistently played well throughout & is as talented as anybody still, just has screws loose. He will never change
but still more flair in his right foot than 95% of footballers.Agreed on the toss up, all very capable & i don't think England will be cannon fodder this time round.

Montolivo will be a huge loss for Italia but they are always dangerous in tournaments regardless of their form...But more importantly, they've been terrific under Prandelli...Have to be considered in the 2nd tier of favorites after Spain, Brasil & Germany, at a minimum...Every bit a contender as Argentina, IMO

This statement is fair. They have less of a buzz than Argentina do, and that can work in their favor.
