So we should be okay with playing Rakitic and other certain past it players because we suck anyway and nothing will change.
Screw that, we can, in fact, do better. This Cycle of players has came to an end and we need to stop trying to extend it. Start doing better in the transfer market, hire a better manager and start building around our most talented players and fill in the gaps with new players who can help piece all of it together.
In order for that to happen the board either needs to somehow get their own head out of their asses or we need change which is 99% likely at this point. Having a coach who can bring in an actual philosophy is crucial to building a foundation for this team.
The point of my post was something like: we won't win either way.
When you mention Alena or Puig, it is even worse.
In numbers, with a current squad:
1. If we'll play with Raki and oldies=we will end as the 2nd in La liga and get KOd in a CL
3. If we'll play with youngsters, we will end as the 3rd in La liga and get KOd in a CL
The option of a success with a current rooster doesn't exist.
We are in the worst situation since 2003.
Back then we had an old and bad team.
Today we have an old and bad team (when you remove Messi).
What is worse, back then we had a monopolly on Spanish talents with La Masia, so if we wanted to turn the page, we had young Xavi, Puyol, Valdes, Motta, Iniesta, even Gabri and Oleguer.
Today, if you want to turn the page, we have Roberto, Alena and Riki Puig, ouch.
Imo, currently we have the worst future in front of us since 1990.
Our first team is dead, we have 3-4 decent players who are younger (Frenkie, Arthur on rare occassions when he plays football, Mats and Lenglet).
And La Masia is dead due to an internet era and we can't cheat and monopolize the whole world anymore.
The only ray of hope is that we will have enough money to buy 10 expensive players in 2 years.
And that we will be lucky on those transfers and that new superstars will fit perfectly, unlike Dembele, Coutinho, Griezmann.
So, too many ifs...
So, my post was not that Barca will sink due to selling Rakitic, lol.
My point was: we will sinkmore anf more in.upcoming Months no matter who will play.
The only question is: how deep will we sink.
