Someone referenced Serena and that is a terrific example: she could easily compete with Djokovic, Nadal and any male in tennis. Skill is skill and over the long run especially with how much sports in general has improved from a training perspective with modern tech/science, I could see this balancing out over time.

I think you're undervaluing just how big the male advantage is in terms of athleticism. It's insurmontable. Let's not forget that it's not the frail skinny men that can't even carry their own groceries that go into competitive sports, it's the best of the lot.

Serena would be lucky to win a game.

If she played against Djokovic , Nadal or Federer , she would be lucky to get 3 games / match

let's be serious here

Regarding Serena and playing men. I distinctly remember this story.

"What was more intriguing at that particular Australian Open was that the two siblings had something of an inflated understanding of their abilities, developed from their being fresh-faced, and still in need of a few life lessons learned. So they marched themselves into the men?s ATP office to announce rather confidently they were ready to beat any tour player ranked around the Top 200 if someone wanted to take the challenge.

It just so happened that Karsten Braasch of Germany, once a top-40 player, but at the time ranked 203rd, was in ear shot. He thought it would be fun so stepped up to say he?d be happy to take them on.

...

Braasch would smoke cigarettes and sip beer during the changeovers, and to be honest no longer looked the part of a fit professional athlete. It made no matter. Braasch led 5-0 over Serena before winning the set 6-1, and then posted a 6-2 set victory over Venus."

So, um, yeah.

So, um, yeah.

I lost all credibility here with that post with Serena.

I'm done, feel free to roast me as much as you want. I'm probably wrong but I think it would be interesting to see at least.

So I want to be clear: I am not saying there is not any validity in the original reasoning in why this took place nor that it was rooted in like patriarchy or anything purely sexist.

That said, I think a lot of the basis of the argument right now is based on the physiological advantages men have over women. Using the same logic, there is no reason then we should prefer the man on the right over the man on the left.

As we all know, Messi is an extreme case but it demonstrates that these ?disadvantages? can be overcome with pure skill, discipline and technique. Before all of the female football gifs come in, I think if women had the same sort of coaching and training that males have access to, not only would their overall skill improve but the elite could more than compete with full bodied males. Sure, you might not see many females and transgender players in maybe a sport like rugby, but then again I know plenty of 6?4 lesbians that could put plenty of full grown men on their ass. If we see it fit that women can serve their countries alongside men despite all these ?differences,? I do not see why they cannot play sport with men as well.

The Ibra vs. Messi example is completely different though. Football is not a sport where a single attribute will lead to triumph and success like weight-lifting etc., there are many different attributes/contributing factors in football and if you are short on one, you can make it up by excelling in others. For example, Messi is not as tall as Ibra and many other strikers and players so naturally he can't head very well, however he is better than almost everyone else when it comes to pretty much everything else.

In some sports women can compete with men if given the same training and coaching like you said, but not all. Those 6?4 lesbians that whoop men's ass you mentioned are anomalies, not the norm.

Yea, and depends which men. Riqui Puig is a man technically. I can totally see a bigger stronger woman abusing him physically  if she wanted to.
