Boateng is basically an improved, fast, black, inform Hummels with better tackling, equal passing but a bit lesser heading.
Also Less injury prone, less error prone and overall just in much better shape. Even if Hummels would be in his best form, i think Boateng would have the edge because he is unreal with Benatia next to him and Neuer behind him at the moment.

I disagree with the assessment that Hummels, or any other CB for that matter, is equal to Boateng when it comes to passing. Badstuber maybe.
