If you think that he is that good, I'll believe you, Khaled.
I don't know if he is that good tbh, I don't watch Benfica to say that in a conclusive way. I trust -not blindly but to high extent- raki opinion when it comes to them and it seems the hype is getting on his nerves. Seem that hype is over the roof in Portugal.
That is one of the reasons I avoided many arguments here on Felix past few weeks
But then, I would consider him as some kind of a Cam or weird hybrid attacker for some future lineups, AFTER Messi.
Btw, from videos which I have watched, his position and passing reminds me more of some 90s style CAM in 352, like younger Totti, Boban, Rui Costa.
A player close to an opponent's box, who is not a true attacker, but has a good eye for a final pass and for a killer finish here and there:
As I said I see him as 2nd striker, Totti himself played that position for good portion of his career too and wasn't exclusively AM. As I said I see him more of a "forward" in that sense and more of a second striker if I really wanted to give him a definite position.
Now, in general I am not such a high believer in SS in modern football. It worked with Messi as false 9 when he was basically 2nd striker without no9 in front of him.
But lately you would have to think about how tactics evolve, and tbh Messi has been a true SS in past 3 and half years and it isn't looking that bad (though worse than him as RW during MSN era)
In last couple of years, Cr7 has been basically a SS not a true LW anymore, Griezmann has been SS not a winger or CF. Even players like Salah or to less extent Hazard was asked to be more of SS than wingers to use their goal scoring ability. They have there favorite side but played more freely. Football is more evolving in that direction IMHO.
Short term:
1. he is not a CF
2. young CFs who are ready to play in big clubs like Barca and who had an immidiate impact are extremely rare (except R9 and Mbappe, iirc)
So, imo, he could be an interesting option for the future, but probably not someone who will lead us to a CL glory in the next few years on his shoulders.
And again, he'll probably play on some other position.
1-As I said in the last post, I acknowledge the positioning problem short term, but as I said if we thought Griezmann could work here, may be we have idea of how to make Felix work here too. This is my 2nd biggest concern.
2- Let's make the pool even wider, how many forwards will be able to carry teams to CL glory under the age of 25? I don't remember any names in past 20 years other than Messi & Cr7 (IMO top 5 all times, may be top 2 all time) and Raul?
How many forwards can make immediate impact in top 5 club under the age of 23? Not even Neymar or Dembele succeeded and that and both needed a year to adapt and develop.
Truth is we need to be a little modest to our post-Messi era expectations, there will be a time again when winning a league will be considered a truly great season. And even to do that we will need a great scorers.
As I said, I see Felix a bit special in that, I could be wrong for sure. But I really hope the club is following him extensively.
As I said, we are gonna make a huge bet on a young forward sooner or later, that is the reality we have right now with Messi & Suarez. And right now he is the guy I am most willing to bet.
