Crossing 'the pond' recently, I saw a programme onboard on Ruud Gullit...Great little history on the player and the interesting connections to Barca through both Cruyff & Rijkaard...Did you know Ruud & Frank effectively grew up in the same neighborhood?

As I've understood from couple of friends who are hardcore Ajax supporters, that disagreement was for the best and they're really looking to reshape Ajax.

Dennis Bergkamp would be in charge of youth development, while Wim Jonk would still remain with the first squad. They're basically trying to turn Ajax around from a selling club into what it was in mid-90s

he's all over the news in Holland right now.. he's destroying Ajax single handedly

Destroying? LOL.
Uri Coronel, van der Boog, .. have been destroying Ajax for years now. Players like Sulejmani were bought for more than €20M, youngsters didn't get a chance & the trainers got carte blanche to spend as much as they wanted (Jol, Van Basten)
Cruijff wants to give the youngsters a chance again, just like Ajax used to do. If that is destroying a club than Cruijff destroyed Barça as well by helping setting up La Masia and giving us the best youth teams in the world.

Imho Coronel and van der Boog ran the club more like a business, and making plenty of weird decisions. Moreover, Ajax became a selling club, which it had blatantly not been before the makeover.

Imagine what Ajax could have been had they not sold all of their star players over the past decade or so? All kudos to Crujiff for actually doing something about that and trying to reinstill the right mentality and sense of style to the whole institution.

Basically, Cruyff wants to reshape the youth department, making it more like the way it used to be in the 80's and so, and he wants to make sure Ajax won't buy players like Mido and Ooijer again, players who are old and not good enough to start. He doesn't want to be a chairman or so, but he has managed to get a lot of former Ajax players behind him, and together they basically want to take over the club and turn it into the old Ajax (80's, 90's) again.

I wish they got the old logo back too. That emblem was much better than the new one.

Do not forget that if Cruijff manages to turn the Ajax youth into La-Masia like quality it will be amazing for the Dutch national team.
