Cruyff was used as a political object by both Laporta and Rosell.

Laporta made him honorary president a few months before Rosell took over most likely knowing it was a situation that could not go forward with the two of them in the club and no love lost.

It was part of the election campaign by Rosell that Cruyff being put in that position was something the members should vote on. Everyone voting knew the situation and what would happen.

He should have been given more respect when left even if not being kept in his honorary role by Rosell who took things as a personal crusade at times to distance himself as far from Laporta as possible.

To be fair to Bartomeu he did try to make amends with Cruyff while he was alive. With joint ventures with his foundation and a lot of praise and recognition for what he did for Barca. Something Rosell would never do. Seem to think he visited training ground for first time in years as well under Barto invitation.

Cruyff was one of the greatest minds in football. I miss him so much. He made F.C. Barcelona the club that it is today and had every right to criticize the management of the club, the signing of Neymar being the last of many. And I'm sure he did that for the sake of the club's future, because just like Ajax, Barcelona neglect 90% of its youth players. Why pay 100 million euros when you can produce your own talents, right? The last person who dared to bring some much new blood to the team in a single season was Pep Guardiola who introduced Busquets, Pique, Pedro and Muniesa to the first team.

he really was a master thinker of football...totally different approach from the one in ascendancy now (speed, physicality, athleticism) and which is the main focus in US sports (no wonder they've never been a strong footballing country). playing intelligently...thoughtfully...with awareness and understanding of the game...he was a revolutionary. A bit hard to pick up everything as other guys keep on joining in and chalk is hard to see at times.

At the beginning of the video Cruyff draws a standard 4-3-3 diamond (more of a 4-1-3-2) which has many flaws as explained. Then he moves on to his own theory, the now infamous 3-4-3 formation, the LB becoming CLM in Ajax's tactics. That did the trick against PSG at Camp Nou and sadly put an end to our season at Juventus Stadium. In theory it is the best offensive tactic there is, but for this task you need players in good physical condition and the best defenders available. Jeremy Mathieu in the role of CLB had absolutely no idea what he was doing on the pitch, he got carried away in the more familiar to him LB role, gave Cuadrado and Dybala the space needed to score the first goal. It was a disaster.
