FFP wise, there is logic to go for free transfers of veterans and move players similarly who came at a low cost (Andreas, Araujo, Eric & Iñigo)

However, of all the positions of priority to reinforce, this is an odd one unless club really has no interest in continuing with Araujo. Especially since Jules is a natural central defender to begin with

FB, DM, LW & FW are the main areas to reinforce - not CB, for me

As for Tah, very well rated defender and clear Flick prioritizes him but even watching Germany in Euro 2024, I thought Tah was the weakest link in defense vs La Roja - of course in terms of aerial duels, the 1.95m German would be a ball winner in the back line

An odd priority IMHO

Garcia, Inigo, Christensen & Araujo are all expiring contracts in 2026.

Araujo is the only one who has a renewal offer in the table, the rest we want to move on from.

Kounde has been a RB for the past 3 seasons, and we don't even have a backup for him. Currently Araujo is the best backup RB.

Tah allows us to put Eric and Christensen in the market while putting pressure on Araujo to accept out offer.

Or it means they want to sell Araujo.

Anyway, it's true what you wrote but it doesn't make much sense to buy our 7th CB while we have no cover at both fullback positions and none in any position in attack.

I mean, if we don't make moves for fullback, then yeah, it won't make sense to get Tah, sure.

But 31st of August is over 8 months from now. So, there is a good chance we are bringing fullbacks.

So, for now, it makes sense to go for a bargain CB. With the entire squad planning to be judged on September.

True we can judge this transfer when we know what will happen in the future but it looks like we won't reach 1:1 in 2025 so it doesn't look good.

Tah can turn out good if he just replaces Eric and Christensen (prefer him but he's probably finished because of injuires) and we get fullbacks and attackers besides him.

If we get him and sell Araujo then it's a bad deal IMO.
