I think he got really worse under Xavi, mainly because the later is demanding more from him than he should.
Alba game is based on simple quick runs, no need for him to go to play free kicks on the right side

Alba also has no chemistry with Abde, and it seems is tasked to cover/hold a more interior position in possession which he doesn't really excel at.

But we can't look too deeply into the offensive output of Alba and Araujo away to Sevilla as their instructions seemed to be to contain and allow Abde/Dembele to attack freely, rather than advance and overlap.

Everything comes to an end at some point. Even Stoichkov wasn't spared - Van Gaal kicked him out in early 1998 and the guy had to spend some time wandering Saudi Arabia, Bulgaria and USA after that.

Also the term "legend" somehow doesn't apply to Jordi Alba. He was a speedy LWB who helped Messi score tons of goals, but will be forgotten quickly. Nobody thought of Sergi Barjuan in the last 15 years until he was appointed caretaker.
