Try to get a buyback clause. Him starting for Monaco would be incredible for his development, several times better than loafing around the B team before inevitably being loaned or sold if our next manager is anything like the past few.

Are we going for the buy-back? That would be great if we do get a buy-back clause.

Dissapointing if he leaves but part of what makes the best la masia players special is how much playing for Barcelona means to them above all else.

If he doesnt have that and wants to go another path then he can go and Barca move on to develop players that dream of the Barca first team above all else.

Or maybe Jordi knows that Barça don't play with wingers anymore, so he'd never get a proper shot in ideal circumstances, especially not with MSN, so he'd either waste time at Barça B, like Samper, Adama and Grimaldo, or never get a proper shot at the first team like Munir and Sandro. And then he has the most exciting team of europe knocking on the door, offering him FIRST team football...

It's not that black and white as some fans want to believe it is.

Right wing there is as much an opening as any other position and he is not close to being ready for first team to worry about MSN.

Samper and Adama never did anything to deserve more first team football and Munir/Sandro were given chances.

Different manager coming in anyway so all just poor excuses. If he wanted it enough at Barca he would/will stay.

They way you speak any young player getting offered a move should take it.

The kid is what, 17? He's a long way off from having to worry about MSN, who likely won't be intact by the time he's ready for first team football, with Messi leaning towards more of a CAM role and Suarez declining rapidly. It'd be foolish of him to leave based on the way Lucho treated past La Masia prospects anyways considering Lucho is leaving and his ignorance of La Masia is not the only glaring flaw he had.

-If he thinks staying at Barca B is waste of time then I am glad he is leaving anyway, there is no short route for 1st team football.
-No body here is denying him the right of making the best decision for his career, but at the same time we care about this club and its own best. And if he put himself first and not willing to fight for a chance here then as fans we won't regret it.

It was just a possibility. And yes, footballers think about themselves and their careers, which is completely normal.

Do you think he should make the move as best for his career though? Seems like you do and those arguments used would suggest any young la masia player in same situation should go.

Not many players made it to the 1st team while Bellerin, Icardi and Grimaldo playing at decent teams regularly with the option to make a jump to an elite team if they do well.

In that sense, some players might regard it as a better alternative than the uncertainty surrounding La Masia. Especially if it's a team like Monaco after you.

Plenty leave and dont do well also.

They can leave if they want but the ones who above all want to play at Barca stay and fight for it and dont make excuses about no road to first team etc.

They are moving for the money as much as anything. Which is their choice as well.

That's true. Samper still here.

Money + a fast-track to top level football.

Besides, these guys also know that there's a way back. Especially if we sign Bellerin.

No, I'm saying different people are different people. You can't just put all La Masia players under the same umbrella of expectations. They are all taught to one day play for the first team, but when you get closer to that goal, it shouldn't surprise anyone if you re-think your possibilities when a good offer drives. Some leave for the BPL, some leave after, some stay and try to reach the goal. These are professionals to be. This will be their life. To be honest I think it's selfish as a fan to think that all youth should stay until they're either on the first team or valued as not good enough and leave. Firstly because that's not the actual case anyways, secondly because professional minds do not work like that all the time. Some times loyalty goes all the way, but some times it doesn't. These are young people with their lives ahead of them. It's all about nuances, that was my initial point. It's not black and white.

If Jordi, or any other kid from La Masia wishes to leave, fine. Goodbye and best of luck. It's their choice. Following La Masia on a regular basis, I know there will be others who will happily take the chances their competitors didn't take. Others with at least as much talent.
