If we get a young goalkeeper like ter Stegen it would be important to have a good mentor for him who could also jump in for a while if things don't go well for the youngstar. I am not convinced Pinto qualifies for that job. Being Messi's personal entertainer and tutoring a youngstar from a different culture isn't the same and Pinto appears to be too much of a clown. Nevermind that I wouldn't feel save at all if 39 year old Pinto had to suddenly jump in in the CL knockout rounds (unless he jumps in during a penalty shootout ;)).

I know people are against Reina because it doesn't feel like "something new". More like getting back a washed up ex La Masia graduate. But he is in his prime years, knows the system and language, knows our players, would be extremely motivated back at Barca, has a great character, would bring PL and Serie A experience and he's actually doing well at Napoli this year (second best defensive record after Roma). I would definitely get him, especially for only 5 million Euros in 2 installments.

I wouldn't mind getting both Reina and Ter Stegen, but Reina alone... please no.

Continuity is important, IMO...Especially when we'll lose a vital cog in the Barcelona machine like Valdes...Reina has the added benefit of being a cantera kid and understanding the football culture of Barcelona as well as Spain but surely Pinto, who has been here for 6 years, is equally up to the task of helping integrate a foreign keeper like Ter Stegen - if that is the route the club goes

Don't have any reservations necessarily about Reina or Pinto as a #2 if not capable alternate to whomever is the #1...Both are big personalities but Pinto is already here and a cohesive part of the collective which would make his replacement unnecessary, IMO

Pinto: "Since I was a kid, I wanted to be a goalkeeper, but I couldn't imagine ending up at Barça. I hope to continue next year." [tv3]

Because Pinto has back discomfort, he might not play all games in the coming weeks. Third goalkeeper Oier could also get playing time. [md]
