José Mourinho

That's exactly why they rate him the best ever. If you've done something good in England they turn it into amazing and never seen before. Look at how long they kept jumping on the Ronaldo is better than Messi bandwagon.

Exactly.

Same kind of hype that elevated players such as Bale/Hazard or Rooney above and beyond their true worth.

That still doesn't make sense in that case though, they would have hyped SAF who spent over 25 years there and actually had better overall career so far than Mourinho who had his best years in Portugal and Italy

6 Ballons for Messi

but what if he wins 7??
You have to question his status as an all time great, some even labelled him as the greatest ever.

Mou was just lucky with his inter treble, take that out and he has nothing special.
He failed at real, failed at chelsea now and the biggest offender is the garbage football he plays against top teams.
He forced real to play antifootball in all clasicos after the 5-0, chelsea is playing some dire football in the CL, inter the same.
There have been dozens upon dozens of managers who seemed brilliant for a short time and then proved to be average, just look at benitez, he was hailed as a genius manager 10 years ago after his work in valencia and the CL win with liverpool but now he's a joke.
Same thing will happen to jose because he's not good enough and his football is ugly, at least wenger tries to play some proper and appealing football.

Jose also has somehow managed to always be at the helm of extremely wealthy clubs, providing him with perfect platforms through which to stat-pad.

I have for many years longed for a situation in which Jose will have to take over a less-privileged club and see who is who.

That CL win with Inter was very lucky indeed. They played some 'great' antifotball, unbelievable.
Another thing with Mou is that always when he loses with his cynical antifotball he starts to blame the refs - "if the ref would have given us that free-kick, they wouldn't have scored that goal 10 minutes later". Mhm Mou, ok - great margins you clown...

Anyone who wins a treble will have luck in his side ,many consider us lucky to beat Chelsea in 2009 ,many consider us lucky to have healthy team last year (while facing many teams suffering injuries) and that real choked in 2nd half of the season
The fact is that Mourinho did a gr8 job with Inter that year .
And Mourinho best job was with Porto ,not Inter .what he has done their is magnificent .the only team that won CL from outside the top 4 leagues in the world in the past 20 years .that was special

He failed at real, failed at chelsea now

Real Madrid only League title in last 7 years was with him (a record in points too)
Their 1st CDR title since 1993 was with him
Their 1st CL semi-final since 2004 was with him ,they were eliminated from 1/8 since 2004 too

He was anything but a failure there .

They aren't proved to be average ,they simply turn into one
Coaches are just like players ,they have their ups and downs . they can do gr8 at a year and crap in another .that doesn't mean they weren't gr8 at the time they were gr8

That is something I would agree with

Mourinho is simply a very good manager and probably one of the best of his generation too . but he played one of the ugliest football,he is way too arrogant and have a character that is easy to hate .
Was he overrated?probably .the fact that some people considered him the best ever is huge overrating ,the fact that some put him ahead of the likes of Pep & Ancelotti is overrating too
But that doesn't mean he was a bad coach

Jose also has somehow managed to always be at the helm of extremely wealthy clubs, providing him with perfect platforms through which to stat-pad.

He won a UEFA Cup & UCL with Porto .they aren't wealthy in comparison to european elites
And the same thing is said about Pep btw ,he was privileged with barca and Bayern etc .but that should never take anything from his achievement

I don't want to edit this clusterfeck of a post, so I'll just post without quoting.
1st, about porto, if you take a look at porto's roster you will find that they had world class players and could compete for any titles. The portuguese core of the team was of such high quality that they made the eurofinals in the same season, don't forget that. (and we beat them, hahaha)
You make it sound like he took a random slovenian team and won it.

2nd, I don't want to argue this, this is not debatable, he failed big time at real.

3rd, This point is kinda right but I addressed the people who said he's one of the best ever.

Plenty of people actually, mainly due to Porto/Inter but his wins at Chelsea are also very good, his amazing home record that continued for 9 years or something and even his Real period will look good in hindsight.
Biggest knock on Mourinho is that he is a short term motivational training that drains his teams and leaves them to burn when he leaves after a few years.

He failed 3 times in a row playing horrible football in the big games.
Then, immediately after he left, real won la decima without playing antifootball.
If nothing else, hingsight will make him look even worse.

before him they didnt came out of the second round stage of the cl ko for 8 years, Mourinho was very close to a cl in those 3 years, won the only title in 7 years for Real, broke a few records as well. I despise the guy as well of course.

Yeah, he made the UCL semis every year at Real.

And honestly, Real probably could have gone through to the final in 11/12 with better luck. The 11/12 Final, 90 times out of 100, would have been a Clasico showdown.
