José Mourinho

Villarato!
In all seriousness, even though I love the shitstorm he causes, Woodward is just as much to blame as he is.

As Catta said, it'll be a sad world when he finally kicks the bucket. He's such a talented entertainer. He'd be an amazing pundit and already offered a lot of good insight whenever he got invited by RT during the World Cup.

I think he is outdated and burned out when it comes to managing at this point, but he does make a decent pundit, so he could take a few years off doing that, or something.

In defense of Mourinho though, none of their previous managers post-Fergie managed to get them to play consistently good football either.
Something is wrong with the guys in charge of the whole thing as well, not just a manager problem, that said, Mourinho certainly isnt getting the best out of the squad.

They actually played well until they conceded this match though, their defensive setup may be laughable and thats Mourinhos responsibility, but they could easily have been up 2-0 if Lukaku didnt miss sitters for fun, cant exactly blame that bit on Mou.

United fans think they are the biggest club in the world just because they have been the most successful club in the past 20 years of the most marketable league. But the reality is they can't attract top players except has beens like Di Maria, Zlatan, Sanchez, Falcao, Schweinsteiger. It's 2018 and they are still subbing in Fellaini to get something from the game.

Mou is going to get all the blame but United post-Fergie has been historically bad in terms of the how management have conducted themselves.

The amount of money spent and the number of signing that have been made who have flopped has simply been staggering.

Looking back at their transfers since 13/14 and the ones who have flopped/haven't lived up to expectations:

-Mata (44m)
-Fellaini (33m)
-Di Maria (75m)
-Luke Shaw (38m)
-Rojo (20m)
-Blind (19m)
-Falcao (loan but on massive wages)
-Martial (60m)
-Schneiderlin (35m)
-Depay (34m)
-Darmian (19m)
-Schweinsteigher (9m)
-Pogba (105m)
-Mkhitaryan (42m)
-Bailly (38m)
-Lukaku (85m)
-Lindelof (35m)
-Sanchez (?)

Out of that list only Pogba, Lukaku and Martial might prove to be redeemable in the future, but two of those guys want out of the club.

They are basically hemorrhaging money.

Their main problem is that they don't have a sporting director. Woodward runs the commercial side of things for United and doesn't have the time know-how or connections to get the manager the players he needs. In his head the galactico model is the right one.

I was reading a United forum recently and many on there were of the opinion the Glazers are content with finishing in the top4 due to the CL money and looking at the last summer transfer window i'd agree with that. for all his faults, Mourinho is going to be the scapegoat wrongly for once in his career. Woodward is an amatuer who makes even our board look competent.. they'll probably bring in Zidane midseason but without his worldclass-in-almost-every-position-Madrid, he'll be totally exposed imo
