And because he won it with Porto and achieved good success with Chelsea. Don't be too shortsighted.

No. They signed him because they thought he had the secret to stop Pep's Barça. In the first days of Pellegrini's signing, Real media said he was the "anti-Pep". So, after Pellegrini's failure, they looked for another "anti-Pep".

The only1 shortsighted here (well not here in this forum but in this topic) is Florentino.

AND because he achieved success in Europe before. Jesus, I'm not disagreeing, but it's not the sole reason he was signed for.

Mou is the rockstar of the coaching world. He's not going anywhere as long as he wants to stay. It's not like any other coach would do much better anyway.

3 times, Gijon beat them b4 we did ;)

It was Gijon, Zaragoza, and then now Barcelona. If we're counting UCL, then he was beaten twice at home in UCL, both by Barcelona, one while he was at Chelsea and one at Madrid. And he was also beaten once by some lower division team in England in a cup game, at Chelsea.

I'm not sure about that. We all are aware of Perez obsession with the big names. I believe he was never fully satisfied with Pellegrini as the coach of Real. I think most of us could see that Pellegrinni will be out of the club with no hesitation once he fails to win something with Real. That's not the case with Mourinho, as he was always rated among the best coaches in the world. He was a big name and had a great record as the coach in several Europian clubs as Porto/Chelsea/Inter. Perez was eager to get a big name for Real Madrid bench and he got it now. I'm not sure if he's gonna treat Mourinho like he did with Pellegrini.

That's great and all but if he comes out empty-handed again this season that'll be 3 years with only one CDR to show for it

Surely questions will be asked then...

2 years with one CDR actually (as Mourinho as the coach). Knowing that he has an absolute stunning Barca team as the direct rival, Perez I believe will still give another year to Mourinho if he fails again to win anything with Real Madrid this season.

God it only been one year with Mou??

Feels like he's been there forever! Perhaps maybe because we played so many Clasicos

I agree though, he probably will be given a 3rd chance if he comes out empty-handed...
