Thanx.
I was just wondering yesterday how come noone of Catalan journalists doesn't have balls to ask him these questions.

Well, the biggest sports paper in Catalunya, Mundo Deportivo's owners helped fund Rosell in 2010 and is a part of that group.

Becomes difficult when Grupo Godo(MD, La Vanguardia) are backing the current board.

Why would you ask these questions to people who you support like that.

There's Sport and that other one I forgot it's name. But I can imagine him dodging such questions anyway.

Sport gone down the drain the last few years.

There are other news outlets like radio stations though, but as you said, Bartomeu dodges those questions or simply doesn't make himself much available for the media, like the rest of the board members.

Which actually is a good tactic for him, as he can stay out of the limelight and get the journalists and outlets in his favor paint the good image of him, while someone like Laporta used to be a lot more available to the press, often criticized them when the team, players were attacked, and was simply more charismatic too which he certainly used to his full abilities.

He made several enemies like that though, made several mistakes by making himself open to scrutiny like that, and that's one area Bartomeu beats him hands down.

I don't know if there were that many other opportunities besides Qatar back then. Do we know who else submitted bids or offers?

No, but that's kind of the point. Bartomeu made it look like it wasn't really his decision (lol) because after all the socios voted Qatar and they make the decisions. What he didn't say however is that the socios don't get to chose on what they vote. What other options were there besides Qatar? Even today he still doesn't have a suitable replacement so it's not hard to think that back then Rosell didn't have (want?) an alternative.

Thanx.

It was nice to see him struggle, even though this will get zero attention in international media or Catalan for that matter. Some of his other answers were:

Barça have partnerships with companies all over the world, almost whole of Africa, half of Asia,... I can't say anything about the political situation in those countries.
- Yes but you have Qatar in big letters on the front of your shirts. Surely you are linked with their antics that way?
No we have Qatar Airways, not Qatar, it is a private company that's trying to become bigger.
- But they are owned by the royal family of Qatar are they not? So, Qatar.
Yes.

Couldn't gauge the details from translator. Apparently there would be some changes in how Barca's nike merchandising income is distributed. Or something.

Something like that yeah.

Someone will probably translate it soon, with all the details. If it's true though then a good job by the board. 100m/season which is more than Man Utd's record deal with Adidas.

This new deal with Nike and hopefully a new sponsor, we should have no issues whatsoever with strengthening the squad properly, although the wage structure still need to be handled better.

Will also be easier when it comes to financing the stadium, if we have more cards to play with.

I hope there's a renegotiation clause in the last few years though, as it's supposedly a 10 year deal.

Good news all around these days. Barca wins La Liga on Saturday, parade on Sunday, we are linked to young defenders on Monday and now this :)

I am still a bit skeptical, going from 32m to 100m a year is very drastic and sounds too good to be true.

That said, this is still much lower than what Adidas is rumored to be paying Real Madrid (140m a year) which Adidas denied I think.

I'll believe it when it's done...

United is getting close to that amount from Adidas. (90mil+)
