Josep Maria Bartomeu

DonAK

President of FC Barcelona
Lol, fuck Rosell.

He's the reason we shat ourselves on the transfer market and fucked over the reputation of the club along with this idiot we have right now. Dumbass motherfucker, hope FBI got enough on him to send him to a federal prison.

Some new quotes:

"From some sectors the ability of this board to run the club has been put into question," Bartomeu said during his speech in front of the Barcelona senate.

"We have been accused of not protecting the model and of only being administrators. We do not mind, though, given how football is now. Being considered good administrators is praise."

"We are not losing the essence of the Barca model. I would like, when we speak of the model, that it was done seriously and not just focused on a style of play, which we obviously want to maintain as it is part of our very essence."

"I would prefer that we talk about the model of the club, something that develops, improves and enriches itself every day."

"We are still in the winning era that began with Ronaldinho and that [Lionel] Messi has consolidated. We have overcome the departures of Pep Guardiola and Xavi, the death of Tito Vilanova and the FIFA sanction. I will not resign and neither will the rest of the board."

What the hell is he talking about? we have not moved on from Xavi. I wonder if he even watches the Barca midfield these days

Surely signing players like Arda and Gomes for massive transfer fees shows the disintegration of this Barca model.

Resign you snake oil salesman.

Barçapocalypse NOW!
Not to mention that without trophies the model he speaks about is unsustainable... What a fucking idiot!

The only good thing is that at least he's feeling the pressure, that "I won't resign" bullshit it's a sign he's scared shitless...

I got that vibe too. Maybe not scared "shitless" but feeling the heat nonthelesss.
Looks like there's some common sense in Barcelona among locals after all.

The reason he came out and denied that he's resigning is because there were rumours circulating in Barcelona that he had to give more importance to his family business so shuffling between that and the Presidency was too much for him.

Bartomeu really isn't a Laporta wannabe. And if he's trying, he's doing a really really bad job.

Sometimes I wonder how people only remember good things about Laporta and forget all bad. His tenure as our president were only saved by Ronaldinho (who was brough to the club by Rosell BTW after Laporta was unable to sign his election promise Beckkham) and later Pep. Remember under how much pressure he was exactly 10 years ago after a season that we finished 17 points behind RM. Barça B was in Tercera Division a season before when Pep took them over and a lot of people also complained about Laporta not giving a sh** about La Masia. There were also a lot of scandals during his time (one of the worst was that his brother-in-law and board member was also a member of Franco foundation) and he received 60% votes against in 2008 Votes of no confidence from club members so he barely saved his job.

I'm not a fan of Bartomeu but I also never really liked Laporta too much either. I get that people liked his personality more than Bartomeu's but he was never an angel as most people believe. Just as much as Barto is not as much a devil as most people believe.

I think that number isn't accurate, you need much less to call elections IIRC
And Laporta wasn't really saved by anybody,I am not sure why Rosell takes all credit for R10 signing either. Laporta was his boss and he was the one who handled him the duty to sign the player. He should get credit for it just like we would complain about bad signings during a president tenure despite others choosing them.
And Laporta chosen Rijkaard, the man who built this club from the scratch,Txiki who got us ton of bargain deals specially b4 Pep,and he signed Pep himself despite two biggest managers in football back then basically begging for the job (Lippi and Mourinho) never mind the club winning CL in 3 major games which hasn't happened in the tenure of any other president IIRC. And La Masia was never accused of being ignored, yes results wasn't good but that because the team was all about creating players for 1st team. Now a days it is about making it to Segunda which has been rarely good for developing players in reserve team for any club in Spain.
Yes,he had his fair share of mistakes, same like Pep,Rijkaard & Txiki under him. But those has literally rebuilt this club. There is a reason why they are very popular. No one is angel and that is why people loves him because his advantages had out weighted his shortcomings

As for Barto,I think he is kind of underrated her,the club has rebounded well from what Rosell done in his last couple of season,he hire footballer and trust them. He has his shortcomings too but I don't see him as the devil tbf
