If he wants to save his own ass he would need to splash the 220 Million to do so. people are getting frustrated and he shouldn't even think about penny pinching or the Espai Barca project at this time. It would sure be great to have an actual elite team to go with the Espai Barca project.
My nightmare is Barto and the board don't make the signings we need and get half assed replacements while using a large portion of the transfer fee on the fucking Espai Barca project.
Laporta survived a motion of no confidence in a season where we went trophyless, where there were some serious allegations against him personally with regards to some shady shit in Uzbekistan, where the season was marred by off-field issues and Mundo Deportivo and Sport both called for him to be ousted.
He survived that, barely.
People who think Bartomeu who is supported by MD even now, will get ousted, could not be more wrong.
Just look back to 2008 and see how Laporta survived with literally everyone against him, and compare that to the situation right now when you have the biggest sports paper in Catalunya making up excuses for Bartomeu.
Do you think he will get ousted? Getting the 15% to initiate the process is easy. Getting the 66% to actually kick out the board is not. If Laporta managed to survive back in 2008, then I would bet my house Bartomeu will survive even if he signs shit players or signs no one.
I'm sorry to be so blunt, but people are delusional if they think he will get ousted. Just look at the process and recent history and you'll understand why it's unrealistic.
I agree that he will survive, but the situation right now is far worse than Laporta in 2008 and it isn't close IMO
Laporta didn't lose a player he didn't want to sell for a far inferior club, he was the one who brought us CL after 14 years, our 2nd CL with a team filled of young La Masia players.
RM won 2 leagues, but now RM won 3 out of 4 CL. The fact they tried to sell the fans they are bringing Verratti and losing Neymar is huge crisis for them, more than a trophy less season. Never mind Laporta was bringing in Pep, a club legend and symbol, Valverde isn't anything close to that.
But 66% is just way too much.
It's worse to us.
Not worse to the socis. 90% of this club's socis live in Catalunya, but how many of them actually care to vote? The elder socis will get their information from MD, Sport, La Vanguardia, ARA, etc.
The younger generation will use social media and other platforms even more, but they're also the ones who are less likely to vote because it's a fucked up generation that only knows how to whine, but do little about it.
Just came back from a one year break to tell you guys that everything in this thread is not true at all.
This is worst state this club has been in a long time. I don't think people realize how close we are to falling into mid-table mediocrity. We're only a couple years from Busi, Iniesta, Messi and Suarez retiring/massively declining. If you look at our youth prospects right now the cupboards look really barren and this current board is beyond incompetent, failing to replace key players years after they retire. Things look bleak.
Look at Madrid on the other hand whom also have an aging team, but they've made the signings to replenish their squad year after year. Ronaldo or Bale need a rest? No problem just bring on Asensio or Isco. Kroos and Modric injured? All is well just bring on Kovavcic or Ceballos. Their team is stacked with promising player after promising player and they look good going into the future as they phase out certain star names. Their business model is also very sustainable; they buy young talents and the ones who don't make the cut are sold to desperate PL teams for massive profits. For instance, their sales of James (if Bayern exercise the buy option) and Morata alone are enough to cover a significant part of the fee for Mbappe.
