Josep Maria Bartomeu

DonAK

President of FC Barcelona
No, Barto need to resign in October and get the fuck out of here. The least he can do meanwhile is start the rebuild and make it easier for his successor if he really cares about the club. He has nothing to lose.

The board can still resign tomorrow.
In that scenario who tells Suarez/Alba to leave?

They could, but there was an article explained in Sport where it seem like it's extremely unlikely that will happen. Will try to find it.

Either way I bet the amigos will refuse to leave knowing new board on way and elections coming.

People leaving/resigning (on their own) generally don't look to piss people off and burn bridges as there is nothing to win from it.
Anyone who worked anywhere will understand.

I would like it if Bartomeu would lose it and in some revenge move to clean his face he deals with those entitled bunch but I just don't see it.

This is a different situation. Bartomeu has no goodwill or relationships to keep with these players. He will never be the Barcelona President again. What he does for the club will matter more than him moving on from some of these players.

I'll say this though: I don't know if he got the guts to do it.

this is our only chance to move on from Messi and co.

Barto is hated anyway, call their bluff and let them leave. no new board is going to come in and tell Messi to leave, nobody will want to go down in history as the man who forced Leo to leave the club

We're screwed basically.

Elections are coming with or without the board stepping down.

Painful to say but the best move is for Barto not to step down just yet and instead stay and get rid of some key amigos.

If we end up with an interim board then we can't do jack until elections. Disaster.

It's a very tough decision on Bartomeu's part. If he gets rid of amigos and calls Messi's bluff, then he will go down as the president that destroyed Messi's last five years at Barca. If he just leaves and let the next president take care of it, he will look like the victim and all the blame will go to amigos. At the same time, he will definitely burn the club to the ground if he leaves all the problems for the next board. The bigger question is how do the fans in Catalunya feel? How do the socis feel? The season ticket holders? If they can see that the problem is bigger than the board, then things will most likely be ok.

Barto needs to go... but for good of club he needs to win this battle v amigos before he does.

Barca would be better off with Barto staying for season and a full cull of amigos than would leaving a club those lot for another season.
