I always thought Barto is an office clerk, but he really amazes me.He distanced himself from Rosell very well by kicking out Sandro's executives out of office,fixed the relationship with Cruyff , kicked out Zubi and brought real pro for that position. He bought Suarez and chasing down Pogba.He pretty much hijacked all the talking points from Laporta and if the team wins more than 1 trophy, Barto got this election in his pocket, because it would feel like Laporta has nothing more to offer except for Nostalgia. Looks like Barto is not that stupid after all, smart and balsy enough to call re-election - because this will be his only chance to get re-elected. If he waited 2 years he would have lost all the chances for re-election.
I don't think it was ballsy. Imo. after Sociedad he panicked and announced elections to get himself some breathing space.
He's doing most things right, I agree with you there. I do hope appointing Braida is only beggining of hiring proven professionals. Surounding oneself with capable people is basics of management and basically all he needs to do.

I seriously doubt that he panicked. It was good calculation. He did that to get out of Sandro's shadow and to settle the score with Laporta. If he was in fear- he would have stayed for 2 more years and resigned if socio-s had enough quorum to vote him off. Now he has good opportunity to win fair and square and get the full support for his decisions.

You are wrong. You can fix the relationship without offering a job(which is what you are describing). Fixing a relationship means Cruyff is valued by the current board of directors, he's welcomed at the club and they are open to cooperate on various issues from both sides. And it is already happening.

An honorary title, and therefore presidency, is not a job. It's a title of recognition, which Rosell took away from Cruijff. Bartomeu has restarted funding Cruijff's foundation to help his campaign for the upcoming elections. Cruijff knows this and he will never support him. He just wants his foundation to achieve its goal: to help disabled children. Furthermore, Bartomeu has talked shit about Cruijff a couple of years ago, and Johan is not the one to forget something like that.

Cruyff didnt want Suarez either.
There has been shit flying back and forth from both sides and it does the club no favours and Barto seems to have recognised that and tried at least to put an end to it.

Vilarrubi said he'll stand behind Bartomeu in the elections and not be up for it as a candidate himself.
So still a lot of Rosell people with him as of now. That's what doesn't convince me, no matter what he does till the elections and no matter how he sugarcoat his candidacy. Bartomeu was a major part of the system for all these years.
