Don't think we'll try to sign Alvarez from them unless he tries to run down his contract and they have to sell him or let him go for free.
Atletico will make us pay the buyout clause otherwise and his is probably 150m+.
We're not in the business of doing that anymore. Nor should we do something like that.

Ship's sailed but would've been a sweet deal had we been in a position to execute it. Cannot sign a better striker for 75 m these days.

Atletico took a gamble with him if we are being honest, plenty of people thought they overpaid for him (me included) and that Pep's system made him look better than what he actually is.

It worked perfectly for them, kudos.

Getting such a striker is the biggest step in rebuild, Atletico will be pain in the ass for years to come thanks to him.

🗣️ Julián Álvarez:

💭 "I will NEVER forget my last conversation with Pep Guardiola before he left...".
"He said to me: 'Thank you for everything you've given us in these two years. It was a lot of titles. You never caused any problems, you never caused any difficulties for the club. Nothing. You always gave your best" 👏

Clearly a very good player but wouldnt go too over board on how good he has been yet.

90m odd for a striker to get 23 goals in 44 games and less than 20 if count out lower league teams in cup is not amazing.

'Only' 11 goals in the league also.

He has improved in second half of the season and took a little time to adapt, although his adaption process was not as disastrous as Mbappe's for example

His stats are okay and especially if you consider that. But it's more about how little he needs in the opponent box to make some kind of a danger. He's incredibly quick, goal against Madrid in UCL is a good example. But in second leg too he had a lot of shots from difficult positions that Courtois barely saved.

Then how he rarely loses possesion, how hard he works. There's no other striker like him in the world right now.

Yeah his stats are ok and of course he takes time to settle but on purely this season I dont think he has really looked so good 90m is ignored.

Having said that expect him to get better.

Still wouldnt swap him for Lewa on current ability. Barca need that focal point in box.

Not sure on this idea rarely loses ball though.. his pass % is one of the poorest in their teams and he has not much better stats for poor touches/disposessions than Sorloth.

I also think he fits AM perfectly. He plays with fire and passion, but I doubt he has elite goal scoring potential in him.

He should stay in AM and become a club legend there imo.

Moving to Liverpool makes zero sense. It's not like they are winning EPLs galore. They have as many league titles as Simeone's Atletico Madrid, while overall facing weaker competition in the last 15 years.

In the near future with this Barca maturing and Madrid being Madrid, La Liga is the best league in Europe again.

Isak plays for the 8th best team in PL.

A player like Isak at his current level would never play for the 8th best team in LL.

Don't give me Isak at Sociedad because he was still a young player developing at the time and nowhere near his current level.

There's a reason why your presidents are desperately pushing for a Super League. It's impossible to have a better league than the cash rich PL currently.

Barca and Madrid were the 2 best teams of the last decade with Prime Messi and Ronaldo. Yet LL couldn't come close to the numbers the PL did globally. PL way too stacked from top to bottom.

Football quality in La Liga is clear of EPL. Of course English products will get more hype tho, it's like that everywhere not just football.

The PL product is far more entertaining overall. The best managers in the world want to be in the PL.

La Liga has way more time wasting and stoppages. As crap as the PL refs are, the LL officiating is even worse. Atleast the PL refs tend to let the game flow. Production quality is significantly higher in the PL.

Real and Barca financially dominate the league way too much. Even the 3rd club Atletico doesn't have much of a fanbase globally. No one tunes in to watch important fixtures like Atletico vs Bilbao for instance.

Would people tune in to watch Atleti though if they played proper ball?

LaLiga suffers by not having a big third city team. It should be Valencia, but we all knows what went down there.

But one of the Sevilla clubs, Valencia and maybe Zaragoza should all make the big 6 with a league that would be alot more pro-active towards investors.
