I will take 30+ Lewandowski and Koulibali over players like Morata and Kounde every day, including the weekends. Also. In the next 2-3 years we are not going to win anything big. We are in a financial collapse, and it will take some time to get out of it. Then, we can start building a Champions League team with younger and better player. Not now.

Koulibaly is much more complete as a CB and a total leader.
He can come and straight-up be the leader of that backline. I have my doubts over Kounde coming in and leading that backline as well as Kalidou would.
For the price being quoted around, Koulibaly is actually a safer bet as opposed to Kounde who can be another expensive flop if he turns out to be another Lenglet.
Ofcourse, the Kounde transfer has a bigger upside because he's young but Koulibaly for 29 mil(?) can give you 3 solid years which will be a steal.

Yeah imo Koulibaly is a bit overrated,if he would be young i would buy him but he is 31 and the chance is not small that he could become another average CB at Barca.

I actually wanted him over Kounde, but damn, that's a lot. For 30M, and a 7-8M salary I would've been very happy to get him. If we're really (hopefully) sticking to a 10M net salary limit for (new) players, and if a world class star like Lewa could and really will agree to just 9M, then Koulibaly wouldn't have been worth it. But then again, who knows if he would've agreed to lower his demands to fit our wage bill, if we seriously went after him. I think he would have. He just made use of the insane PL money this way, of course he did...anyone would. Anyway, I always though he'd end up at Chelsea, and I bet he will most likely kill it for them for 4-5 years, maybe even a year or two extra, just look at Thiago Silva. And Koulibaly also seems like the utmost professional type, who won't let himself go in the later years.
Hopefully Kounde does accept a lower salary to fit into our structure, and then doesn't turn into Lenglet here and works out for us, and especially hoping that him and Araujo can play together just fine, one of them adjusting to LCB. And if they can, of course it'll be even more great, since they're both just 23 years old and could be our CB pairing for 10 years, not just 5 like with Koulibaly. Let's hope.

He's new and Chelsea are struggling. That makes it even harder to adapt. No new player 8s going to shine when the team as a whole us struggling. I've rarely seen it.

He entered a struggling team all around. Give it some time. Most Chelsea players have been poor this season. Dysfunctional outfit so far.
I have watched him for years in Italy. He was terrific throughout.
But it is far easier to defend in Italian football than it is in the Uber fast paced premier league .. you know this ?
