There is a form of hate against Karim according to his origins. I heard that he doesn't like France. You don't play 81 times for France national team if you don't like France. He decided to play for France, he did it with pride 81 times. I can't accept that we question it. He is beautiful, young, footballer, rich, with North African origin and muslim. Not at all. I'm extremely proud that he kept and didn't turn his back on his friends, despite the different paths they have taken. It's a pride to see this boy who stayed the same since the day I met him, when he was 15 years old. Today, he is a world star, he has 30 millions worldwide fans, unfortunately only 10% of which are French.

It DOESNT sound like that. It sounds like he is coercing Mathieu to pay up.
A real friend would have asked Mathieu to inform the police immediately and come himself come forward to testify.

And possibly risk for the video to be released. You have to understand they are living in a different world. If Karim believes that, that sum will end everything than he might have honestly believed it was the best choice to pay. Didn't Karim find himself in a similar situation? Anyway for them that amount is peanuts.
Mathieu is acting out of a huge fear of the video being released. If he wasn't as afraid he might have stepped to the police. But it's clear he doesn't want it to get leaked bad enough.
I am not saying it is the most responsible decision, but then again Benzema might not be sharpest tool in the shed.
It is hard to judge these situations from an outsiders perspective. Actually living it might lead you to do things completely different than what you thought you would do.

Benzema pushed for Valbuena to hire a fixer. He incited Valbuena to pay that man, not the original blackmailers who had been around since June.
Even if proven guilty his sentence won't be anywhere near actual jail time.
