I don‘t think we could afford the fee and his wages right now.
They can if they include Dembele into the deal. They can get Gomes for free too.
I don‘t think we could afford the fee and his wages right now.
if they have to sell some key players, including suarez and rakitic (whose value probably increased this world cup) to add onto their transfer budget and help facilitate the transfer then so be it. mbappe looks poised to dominate world football for at least 10+ years and if he heads to real then barca can forever forget about signing him.
i just hope that they hold onto him at least until barca have the funds available to sign him if they already dont
If that is the case then why didn't they sign Mbappe last year?
Because he would have been getting a superstar wage as one of their absolute best paid players as an 18 year old and they didnt want to take that risk in their wage structure as he had only played 20 games at senior level? Now he's a year older, is no one season wonder and Ronaldo and Benzema are aging. Thank goodness they didnt get him. Lets just not hope FFP messes up PSG. It would be disastrous if they get him as we cant possibly compete with the money they have. I dont think PSG will ever sell him to them though.
So, what's your line of reasoning?
Mbappe is available. Club has the money. They don't want to buy him?
Mbappe is probably not for sale, fist of all. I personally doubt we could afford him.
Well if they have stupid amounts of money, they surely would have bought him. Seems like finances were the biggest barrier to that purchase.
Doubt senior appearances had anything to do with it. They just spent over 100m on two Brazilian teens who have never played in Europe.
They could have also just triggered Neymar's clause too no?
it's highly concerning the only club that seems to be pursuing mbappe is real according to the media. it could all be just bullshit rumors, but if psg do sell him then barca should make him top priority. forgot about that midfield, mbappe should be priority #1
We have to pay to get rid of Suarez most likely. Rakitic wont generate more than 20m perhaps. The Mbappe train was last summer when we had so much money we didnt know what to do with it. Its crazy to think that PSG were able to sign such an amazing opportunity in the market which came up at the perfect time when we had lost Neymar. Its rare for such opportunities to arise and these days there are very few good players available. Its even a lack of good players in football in general.
Having ridiculous amounts of money is just a figure of speech. It doesnt mean they literally didnt know what to do with it or that they would just give Ronaldo a new 100m a year contract. 180m and superstar wage for an 18 year old is really something they didnt want to do as other team members would also demand a higher wage as a result.
Surely, we cant compete with the amount of money they have for transfers right? They have hardly spent anything, won a lot and generated enormous amounts of revenue.
They are going to have to replace Ronaldo, Benzema, Bale (if he leaves as he hinted to), Marcelo, Ramos, Modric and Navas in the next few seasons.
That's not going to come easy, cheap or guarantee any level of competition that Barca can't compete with.
If all it came down to was spending the Manchester and Paris would be the kings of Europe right now.
While this is most likely going to be the case, it's frustrating why it has to be so. Higuain to Chelsea just now for EUR 60m. SIXTY Mil. For HIGUAIN!
I think that's the perfect comparison - both are similarly old and washed up, both score goals in league but are nowhere near good enough at the highest level, both living off their 'star' status, and they both probably love burgers.
If he can fetch 60m, Suarez who is an ever bigger name should easily fetch us more, unless the club selling him is FCB it would seem. Now would be the perfect time to sell him, he's had goals this WC, his value is as high as it's going to be going forward, and we really really cannot afford to have him as our starting striker. The combination of this board and a cowardly coach means that's never going to happen though.
