Messi had far better WC in a poorer team.. that will be remembered.

.

I'm not so sure about this. I think if you were asked to make your own team from Mbapp? and Messi's teammates, the only France players that would make your list would be the CBs and maybe Tchouam?ni.

No chance.

Messi helped Argentina play better as a team this WC but individually France has the better players going into it.

Even the players that can come off bench.

Argentina more or less had one wide player with any pace and that was an unfit/old Di Maria who is not as quick as was.

France had a ton of them and more to come off bench.. that played a part in every France/Argentina tie as Argies tended to fade and France took on whippets from the bench.

He was a ghost, while Messi showed up in every single knockout game.

Doesn't take away from what he did in the last 10 minutes are the WC overall, but those two games he did nothing.

Only player anyone would take from the Argentina team to make the France XI going into the WC is Messi and maybe maybe, Martinez in goal, that's it.

Every CR simp will be on the MBappe dick sucking contest from now own and until Messi retires. Comparisons will absolutely be limited to Messi at 36 years old vs MBappe at 24 onwards.

Guess you're not a football fan.

I am a football fan. Less now than before though, because the game has changed in ways that I find pretty ugly (mostly because of FIFA's decisions) and a lot of things led up to my decision. It was still pretty hard to not watch the games. To be honest the hardest to skip as a french fan was probably the England one, cause I really didn't want England to go through. The final was easier, cause I'm partly argentinian so I was ok with either outcome. Happy with my decision in the end though.

Thats the way Ronaldo fan boys are going to go... all in on Mbappe.

Says it all really.

Well it works both ways. Some of the bad faith and nitpicky arguments that Messi fans use to undermine Mbappe are reminiscent of the tactics that CR and Messi fanboys have used over the years.

There is a reason why this place has by far the most negative attitude towards him. Messi fans have definitely channeled some of their anti-CR hate on to Mbappe

I would have rather have France win it, obviously, but I am happy for a part of my family, and for Messi. I said it already, there's no way anyone will even challenge his GOAT status. Tbh I think it was already pretty much the case before that, but it completely settles it for me now, even though I assume you'll probably find some CR fanboys to try to claim that this WC didn't count or whatever. Of course, I'm sad that the WC Messi won was at the expanse of my country, but it softens the blow by A LOT that he ended up winning that trophy.

The fact that I would have prefered France to win it doesn't mean I'm not ok or happy with another outcome. I clearly wouldn't have said that for a final against any other team in the world. For some I would have been indifferent, for some I would have been sad/angry (mostly Portugal and England). I think the only other team that I would have been ok with would have been Morocco, because it would have made my Moroccon friends super happy.

Strange to avoid watching it then come on and argue about players involved but each to their own.

At least everyone got what they wanted from it.

Was a great WC to watch.

What arguments are 'nit picking' to undermine Mbappe?
