why in the world would mbappe come to barcelona if he doesnt want to be in messi's shadow?
if he cant already achieve that at psg, why would he go to the one club where messi, playing or retired, will always be greater than him?
He's already the number 1 main man at PSG and the other guys are in his shadow.
Don't think that's the reason for him moving.
He'll be moving simply to go to a better league and get more global acceptance and recognition as the new it guy of the sport.

Athletes care a lot about public perceptions and popular opinions.
People don't care about Ligue 1.
PL and CL are where the eyeballs are at.
La Liga was always a massively overrated league due to the big 2 and got great PR for the last decade but still couldn't get close to a PL with no megastars in viewership. La Liga has always been a very very top heavy league. It's the same overall level as the Bundesliga with more anti Football tactics. Although that brand of Football works well in Cup tie formats.

I'm not saying he'll definitely leave. I'm saying if he leaves this will be the reason. It's a realistic possibility that he leaves after all.
Winning PSG their first CL will be more iconic than winning just another CL with Real. But Real have way more fans worldwide so he'll get better perks and more fame globally.
Let's not forget that this is a guy who meticulously perfected his English in order to appeal more to the global market. He definitely wants to build a global profile. And no matter what you think the difference in these leagues are, you know that certain leagues will give him more constant visibility and credibility in the eyes of casual fans.
You think R9 would be as overrated and nostalgia-maxed if he stayed at PSV and didn't move to best league itw(90s Italia)? Lmao these factors play a big part in your global profile.

Casual fans matter in that they make up the numbers just as much as well informed proper fans. It's all numbers. Both kinds of fans add up to make 1 follower.

Because Social Media has way more users today than it had when CR7 was 24 and Football has a larger audience today than it had when CR7 was 24. That's natural given the population progression and the natural Sport watching demographic increament.
Mbappe has a long way to go in order to reach CR7 levels of fame and status. Even clueless Yankee chics who fawn over shit like Vampire Diaries know who Cristiano Ronaldo is and recognise him by face.
Ligue 1 will never allow Mbappe to penetrate the Asian and North American markets. PL has insane hold over these markets while La Liga has the Latin American markets. Stop being so naive and pedantic.
I empathize with your annoyance and irritation regarding this and I agree that some people go overboard in this respect but let's acknowledge the elephant in the room.
