He is a good player but what gives me a sense comfort is that he's not, and never will be, Cristiano

Cristiano was not the best footballer ever, but his mentality was a special attribute. Cristiano would never give up and would try like it's a final if his team is not winning. He was very much obsessed with the idea of winning and being the best ever.

Mbappe is not that guy, and Madrid fans want him to be that guy. Mentally he's strong but not that strong.

Great achievement but 2 penalties bro, be real

His 2nd goal was a masterpiece though, gotta give it to him

Don't get me wrong, I consider him to be a mentally strong footballer but just not at the level Cristiano was - while everybody at Madrid expects him to be

Reeks a bit of desperation and bargaining this post.
Right up your alley then.

It's a WC final, his teammates completely bottled the game and Dibu was playing all kinds of mind games possible.

In terms of attitude and body language, Mbappe was the only player that didn't give up and kept fighting till the very end.

Also converted his shootout pen.

I agree on Mbappe.

Think it's harsh on Kolo Muani and Thuram, though. When they came on France definitely improved. They changed the game a bit and Kolo Muani especially was a threat throughout. Yes he missed the big chance but he played well other than that. Him even getting the big chance shows he wasn't hiding even after 119 mins.

I agree with your general point though that Mbappe played well later in the game.

ngl, he displayed a lot of creativity. Had a decent first half.

2nd half sloppy ball losses and awful shooting.

2nd half was very much to my liking ;)

About the other discussion... I guess why Ronaldo looked so much more imposing/mentally strong is primarily down to his physique. One won physical duels and the other doesn't. And winning physical battles is often associated with mental strength. Mbappe is a bit bodiless.
