Okay, it’s not really decline, but since start of 2024 has been underwhelming.

Prolly for a large part comes down to tactics.

But as said, most defenders don’t have much trouble containing him. Maybe did decline…

I argued that with someone else here who counteracted with that fact he scored more goals than ever during the season. However that did involve over 10 penalties.

When you watch Mbappe from 2021/2022 to now he’s a completely different player to defend against. Been plenty of games where you’d forget he was even on the pitch .

It's a travesty he's considered one of the best players in the world. His impact is minimal outside of goals. Can barely create anything, subpar technique. Been bailed out by his physicals big time in the past and not as explosive anymore. His decline will be spectacular.

Mbappe's off ball movement is so horrible, he isnt a natural striker. A guy like Joselu would fit way more.

He isn't a natural LW either, which is his main problem.

He is more of a second striker, who wants to have everything set for him to just score goals. He is a bit like 30+ Messi and CR7 in that.

He wants the freedom to room freely in the center, or slightly on the wing while having a striker in front of him so he doesn't have to keep dealing with CB physicality.

He is arguably the best in the world since the decline of Messi, but he is a tactical nightmare as it stands and would need a very good team build around his strengths.
