What has Real Madrid's record been against Celta away? Not sure why folks all seem to think it is a tough one for them.

Celta are difficult to beat at home, for instance they defeated Atletico at the Balaídos in February. It's not an easy task to get out of there with 3 points for any team, I mean we depended on the Flying Frenchman to bail us out when we won 0-1. :)

Nothing less than a win will do at Balaídos, somewhat of an unlucky stadium for 'Los Blancos'. It is one of only a few Spanish grounds which can boast a favourable record against Real Madrid. A total of 48 La Liga games have been played there and Celta have won 23 of those (48%). Los Blancos have only taken all three points from 15 league games there, with the remaining 10 fixtures ending in a draw.

It is true that Celta had the better record last century. During the 1950s, the home side won six matches to Real Madrid's two, whilst in the 1990s that record stood at six to one in Celta's favour.

Despite that, Real Madrid have considerably improved that record in recent seasons, with six wins and only two defeats between 2002 and 2014.

let's hope for a repeat of last year's result. 2-0 for celta.

Man what happened to Villareal?? No win for 7 games now, and only 0/1 goal scored from open play (the argument is valid for judging a team as a whole).

Celta is the team that took real completely out of title race last season. Lucho at the center of it, i hope the new celta does the same. Then real throw the towel and go all in on champions league.

Celta played very well against Atletico and Barça. High pressure and attacking football. Nolito, Charles, Santi Mina and Kroh Deli. C´mon!

Ofc. They barely had a shot on goal against Mandril who had half their starters out. With good intensity and mentality we won't have any problems.

The Calderon game will be right after our 2nd CL semi. I don't know how much intensity we would be able to muster at that stage to be honest. Atletico better be assured of 3rd place by then, or we will be having problems over there.

A top club should be able to handle that. If we lose to bayern though the players might give up like in peps final year.

I think we will have the luxury of not having to win this game as RM is facing Celta at the Balaidos today and then Valencia and Sevilla @ the Sanchez Pizjuan. I'm sure they'll be dropping points in one of these three games.

We have faced an avalanche of tough games in recent weeks and months. Must-win games keep on coming, and we will have to face Bayern (a team that has precisely zero domestic worries) 2 times in six days, and then, after 3 and a half days have to travel at the Calderon. There is no club that can handle that unaffected.

They had 4 shots on target in 2 games together against RM.

They were still in the running for the qualification until the rather harsh red card for Arda Turan. That should also factor into our analysis. They are also 3rd, not too far behind the Big 2 and have given Real Madrid hell this season. They also beat semi-finalists Juventus in the CL and topped that group with far better results than Juventus. I would not describe such a team as "shit".

That's something that I not only hope is true, but I also calculate to be true. The injuries along with the tight and difficult schedule will most probably cause Real Madrid to drop points. But you never know, one has to factor in the worst case scenario, which in this case means that Real Madrid win all their Liga games.
