5 - Athletic have scored the league-low total for open play goals scored this term. Shortfall.

What's up with them? What's the reason behind those disappointing performances?

Shitty individual form and an over-reliance on Aduriz to provide clinical attacking up front. Like many other games, today we had several good transitions through Ibai or Lopez but Viguera messed up most of them with poor shots or touches. Not having Muniain and Aduriz was a massive blow but the team should be able to do away with Depor even without them ffs.

Tactically, there's not much difference between this and what we played last year. I could say the system was poor at the beginning of the season when we relied on Muniain to do everything, but now it seems that we just seem to break down in the final third and lose superiority when we concede. Happened today and against Atletico before the break, many other teams as well. The football isn't bad, we just lose control at inopportune spells and can't attack incisively for shit right now.

One good run of form can change everything though. I believe we should completely de-prioritize the CDR matches against Celta, difficult opponents to overcome and we have to focus on the league. The next match against Elche at home should be a straightforward 3 points, after that it's an obstacle of a fixture against Villarreal at El Madrigal followed by matches against Malaga/Levante who seem to pose trouble for us. Hopefully we're lucky and can get a decent amount of points from these 4 matches before playing Barca at home (I'd say 9 or 10 points from the next 4 matches should be a realistic target that has to be reached).
