I really like Betis and hope they do not relegate this season, but what a bunch of scumbags in the stands. Unbelievable...

Pepe Mel sacked from Betis. Their wanted replacement is Juan carlos Garrido.

Real Betis president, Miguel Guillen can barely be heard in his press conference over the screams of support for Mel from the fans outside

Mel: "This is the press conference I never wanted to give.."

Pepe Mel was forced to leave his press conference after breaking down in tears..

As Mel left in tears, he was applauded by the journalists in attendance (@ElFregonero)

Pepe Mel: I want to thank the Betis fans, from the bottom of my heart.

Real Betis officially announce Garrido appointment.

Shameful act to replace Pepe Mel at Betis. I was confident that at the end of the season they would sit confortably at 12-14th place. It shows how incredible short-term bias directors have in football. Sacking the manager is the easiest way out of pressure from fans, but not very often is that really the real remedy against failures. In the end, it's the players that win you points on the pitch.

Anyone else think that Laporte would be a great defender for us?

I've thought this too, made a player thread on him last season. He's amazing on the ball, physically and aerially dominant, has decent speed, and can tackle very well. He's still young and learning a lot, but he really reminds me of a perfected version of Pique.

He has pretty much surpassed every young French CB in the world in my opinion (even the likes of Varane, Zouma, and Mangala. Although Varane is slightly above his level when at his best). Laporte-Bartra would give us everything we need in a CB pairing in the future: height, brains, speed, and tenacity.

He is good but still a long way to go in my opinion.

Didnt look all that comfortable playing left back and makes quite a lot of errors, largely through the massive confidence he has to try things.

Good on the ball though and def looks one for the future but dont rate him anywhere close to Varane or Mangala yet.

He's never been a good LB and yes, he occasionally does make errors but coming from someone who's watched every Athletic game this season he is very consistent for such a young player (most of his errors were at the beginning of the season if at all). Varane at his peak was unbelievable but injuries and inconsistency have brought him down a peg recently, Mangala seems good but not great from what I've seen of him.

I have watched pretty much all their games as well. Missed last one though.

Personally dont rate him as highly as you do but agree he is good player.

Wouldnt be making any push to sign him, decent to keep eye on.
