I didn't see the match, but apparently RM had 27 shots (8 on target). Were they just plain unlucky not to win?

How was Kovacic?

They should have scored, but only three of them what you could call very big chances, the rest were shots here, shots there. Cristiano missed a sitter, but it was offside anyway.

Sporting also had a couple of big chances with one arguably just being on the goal line(fuck LFP for no goal line tech though).

Kovacic didn't really do much, but came on late too.

Real Madrid, especially Ronaldo had quite a few very close chances that could have scored on. Credits to Gijon defense, very solid.

Nah, they had some chances but the shots were not great. Cristiano had 10 shots and only a couple looked dangerous.

A lot of really awful shots outside the area or at the edge just hoping to nick a lucky goal. Truthfully, they couldn't ever break down Sporting's defense. Ronaldo had 9 shots today but only 2 good chances. In the first half Sporting were pretty clearly the better team and this continued until the 60th minute or so, after which RM stepped up the pressure but still had no ideas to break down the defense. In short: they started shit, tried harder, but still played pretty shit.

How about Kovacic? Too few minutes to make an impact I take it?

It's his account mate. I don't know how to post tweets on this forum since I don't have a twitter myself. After looking at quite a few tweets from him, it's definitely him.

Just 30 mins ago he posted a vid having dinner with Mourinho and the coaching staff.
