I think we might play the best football in La Liga this season, but our inability to grind out results when not playing well will probably stop us from mounting a serious title challenge against the Madrid sides.

There were 22 total goals scored.

In a season opener Carlos Soler scored from an early penalty to give Valencia's new boss Jose Bordalas a win against his former team Getafe despite Hugo Guilamon receiving direct red card already in 3rd minute. Both team finished the game with 10 players.

Nice buildup and great finish by Jose Luis Morales who has scored his 50th goal in La Liga for Levante. Alfonso Espino with 97th minute equaliser. Alvaro Negredo (Cadiz) has played his 300th league game.

Manolo Reina own goal rescued a point for Betis at Mallorca.

Real Madrid was the first big 3 club to start a season with four 2nd half goals against Alaves.

Other title contenders also started the season well. Barcelona get the post-Messi era off to a winning start with two goals by Braithwaite.

Atletico Madrid won three points at Celta Vigo, both goals scored by Angel Correa.

Another Argentinian had a great debut for Sevilla, Erik Lamela with a brace vs newly promoted Rayo.

Two scoreless draws in both Monday games (Villarreal-Granada and Elche-Athletic).
