La Liga Proposes League Suspension.

I'm so fucking stoked Liverpool not being crowned champions is a possibility  Just out of banter

would be really unfair imo

the Belgian league will most likely stop the league but will take the current as the final standing, so Bruges (who have a 15 point lead) will be called champions

Oh it would, it's a travesty. But funny as fuck to be almost anyone but a Liverpool and Leeds fan in this situation.

It's equally unfair to those who could still overtake candidates for promotion though. In the English case mostly they'll care, but otherwise it's a case by case scenario. If leagues have regular yo-yo teams that are in the lead for promotion or destined to go down again then they might just sod it and get it over with. i.e. Eredivisie or others.

There is no chance the EPL will just get voided.

They will work something out for European places and Liverpools title.

'Working out' anything other than resuming a season and letting teams determine their positions is bollocks really.

In some cases.

It would be ridiculous to name Barca champions but not Liverpool.

Leagues will end up voting on what they think is the fairest outcome.

Agreed, league by league basis, as I said two posts above. Not that I think it's ever moral. It just happens to be the best course of action for the given league, even if it hurts some parties within it. The English probably have too many financial commitments to support complete voiding, but also too many to try and cut 20/21 short to accomodate 19/20 to spread into autumn. So they'll go into middle ground where they either play some part of the season in an attempt to clinch or make titles and promotions/relegations clearer (which can backfire) or just hand things out based on current standings. Either of which is changing the rules of the game in the middle of it. Fucked up, but they're businessmen first and foremost. Voting doesn't make it any more OK, those who profit the most or have least to lose from a given resolution will just outvote the rest.

Thing is, can you crown a champion without deciding relegation? CL/EL qualifications?
Those were pretty much in play for both leagues, can you crown Liverpool and void the other standings?
EPL and La Liga are same in that regard, only difference is there is a clear champion in EPL. But it is still ridiculous in other important standings

Crowing the champion does not have much bearing on the others and individual leagues would have to vote on what they think is best way forward.

There is no alternative.

Who takes the CL spots if league is voided? Last years entrants? That is worse and more unfair than anythig.

The covid-19 isn't fair to a lot of people if not everyone. Sport and business will have to look forward rather than being stuck on the past and looking for most "fair"solution especially considering there is not a really fair one.
it is an entertaining industry at the end of the day and they will have to make decisions that keep cash flowing asap and life to go on. If a league can finish fisxtures they will surely do it.

Can agree with that

Votes by clubs on a solution is only way forward.

The only alternative is associations say there are no promotion, no relegation and last years european qualifiers get those places again.

That wont happen.

Nah, some just don't want blowback coming their way from not-closing things down for long enough. Depends on a country, but unfortunately European fixtures apply to all. So only middle ground left for the CL now and it's unlikely to be contested on fair terms now. Because how do you resolve it if Spain choose to play between August and September with a fixture every 3 days? How do you contest that when French teams had next to game time? French politicians have started the domino, there's already been rather powerful public pressure to cancel the EPL season for instance (though UK fans are dumber than almost any other countries). I'm not optimistic anything will be resolved properly now. Cancellations all around.

That's the whole problem with this. There's no solutions being developd anywhere, nothing being done, except closing everything. It's laughably bad. Just stop with this nonsense, until things go bad. Life need to get back to normal, with some precaution being taken to ensure this. Precaution doesn't mean locking people in their houses indefinitely..

In two months they did basically nothing. They are using time to tell to people they need more time. And when that time is up they will say they need some more time.

The virus itself is less dangerous than what these morons are doing. Just fucking make sure the old people and hospitals are protected and allow us to carry on with our lives ffs. Majority of people who die, die in hospitals and care homes. They don't protect these places properly because they are focused on everyone, when the virus is very discriminating in affecting the old.
