Great game. 3 points the most important thing. We can't expect them to nuke everybody throughout the season dominating all 90 minutes. First half was a beauty, second was like they turned off a little bit.

Yeah the first half started out really well! We were totally dominant, but in the second half, our tempo decreased and unforced errors were made which almost resulted in Espanyol scoring. Ex. Pedri losing the ball in midfield around the 60 minute mark.

It would be only naturally after the huge high of the last week, the days off and the weeks national events that the team might dip a bit- which they did.

I didn't like the second half, and the offsides compared to Madrid looked more due to extremely fine margins rather than a very well played trap. But the game was solved at half time and did afford the opportunity for energy conservation. We had alot of mileage last week.

But what was more concerning was that Olmo was excellent in the first, but only looks like a 50 minute player currently. Frenkie himself looks like a 50 minute player and Gavi is a 10/20 minute player. Fermin too, questionable.

So we have to keep in mind that apart from the core 11/12 who always play, that while we have the big names back in spirit for depth, that they are still a fair bit away from full fitness.

Luckily the fixtures are a bit easier on us. But this core will still have to be focused and not dip, because the front 3 don't have any depth, or rather any productive depth as Fati and Pau Victor have yet to show they can bring anything to the scoreboard.

I was unhappy too with lack of concentration in 2nd half.
Well, players are not machines.

First half was great, 3 lovely goals scored. Things to learn are there from 2nd half.

Visca!

This VAR enabled offside trap utilization is a double edged sword but so far so good.

I am not too sure about those VAR calls and those VAR offside animations on replays I wonder if there is any human judgment while drawing those offside lines and body positions and then the moment the ball is kicked.
For instance, how do they know the precise moment when a player's boot touches the ball and initiates the pass? Can they see it on their screen in the VAR room? These are very close calls, sometimes centimeters...if the passing initiation moment is not exactly captured then this could be a wrong call.
Perhaps, one day, they would install some chips inside the ball and synchronize it with the position of the defense line and the opposing team's addressee of the pass to eliminate the slightest margin of error.
