Flick needs to find a good balance. After a weeks rest there is theoretically no need to rotate, but then we have 3 games in one week until the next int. break with the difficult game in San Sebastian. I think we should play with the first team in both league matches to keep our comfortable lead in LaLiga and rotate in the CL against Zvezda. Olmo should have enough staminea for 60 minutes now, I would use the Bayern/Madrid lineup without Fermin. It works perfectly well, so no reason for Flick to change it.

Our back four is overplayed. Would be wise to rest few players. Fort and Eric are good enough for these tasks. If the result is ok get Martin in to rest Balde too.

Midfield is stacked so no worries there. Flick can start anyone.

Attack should be rotated as well. Give Fati another start and rest Raphinha for at least a half. Pau needs minutes too.

If we're comfortably up by the hour mark, games are also much less costly to those on the pitch. Intensity drops when the opponent loses hope. Don't have to risk those late game sprints or anything that looks like a risky challenge.

A welcome chance from Xavi's conservative tactics that made many games much more draining that they needed to be. We were busting our ass until the final whistle defending those one goal leads instead of investing that little more energy to kill the games early and then have our rest.

It's less about escaping from reality, more about having the decency not to celebrate sports when so many people lost everything. Especially in Valencia. I can't imagine Madrid's game will be played there, but we'll see.

I get the notion.

LaLiga didn't suspend games in 2004 after the Madrid bombings where 193 people lost their lives. Infact Real Madrid had a home game 3 days later.

I'm just not sure what is the degree of national tragedy where we implement the action of stopping sporting events and when not to.

Would it not be better to bring attention to the tragedy by giving respect during the broadcast and a universal minutes silence rather than cancelling all together?

We should sub on Ansu Fati early on in the second half if we have a comfortable lead. I'd like to see the Fernandez cousins, but this is probably not the right game for them. Who knows how aggressive the Espanyol players will be against them.
