La Liga Round 17: Betis - Barca 2-2

This time I agree. I would rest Pedri this weekend and Raphinha v Dortmund.

At this point I'd take a draw against Dortmund if 1-2 players got some rest. But like I said, it's 4 games left until a longer break. Flick might go all in in hope that nobody breaks.

I think it's more about accumulating minutes than anybody getting injured now. Players who are overplayed now could struggle to keep up good form in March/April even if they won't be injured.

But yeah, Flick does a lot of "hoping and praying nobody gets injured" rather than plan in advance and rotate. I know we are still short in defense but have now almost all players available in midfield and upfront so really no excuses to not use whole squad. I think Pau Victor deserves more minutes than he has been given so far but ofc it's not easy to just throw him into a tough away game at Betis and expect to do wonders. You slowly accomodate him into the games for last 20-30 minutes when we are comfortably leading and then start him in easier home games but Flick wasn't exactly doing that.

- Flick just said Raphinha will start.
- Said he doesn't care about opponent, Barca only focus on themselves.
- Araujo will travel to Dortmund, probably will not play

That's a naive thinking.

That's a naive thinking.

Noticed in his press conferences that he very rarely talks about opponents. Don't think he praised or mentioned Las Palmas for their win against us.
It's obviously his thing not to adapt to opponents and focus only on Barca.

I wouldn't worry about Roque. I'm sure he will be off side multiple times. I think he's probably Betis level and found his niche.

Agree with you there. It's admirable when a coach just wants to focus on his own team, but you also have to prepare for the different styles and players you face week to week. Also, not giving credit to the opposition when they deservedly/fairly beat you - even if it's down to own-team foucs and there's no malice intended - is not a good look.

Maybe nobody asked him about Las Palmas is all?
Yeah true - not really directed at Flick, just what Barcaman said.

It's more a general comment if someone is asked and says something like 'I just wanna focus on my team'. But it is still the decent thing to say well done to opponent (assuming they win fairly).
