Koeman has no amends to make. Considering the mess he stepped into, basically no signings he could make and given the squad on verge of mental collapse.
People were saying fight for CL spots if you rewind back and look at us now.

Agree 100%.
The rules are constantly changing over what needs to be achieved.
If Barca win double this season after last summer and having such holes in squad at CF etc then for me it is up there with anything outside of Pep for achievement from Koeman and squad. Even Luchos treble.

people were either stupid or just reactionary. no way a squad as ours would have fought for a CL place. plus we still had messi. plus the other clubs didn't transfer anything of note either.
i for one never made that stupid prediction.

That is a fair change of tune form you who claimed Suarez transfer had won the league for the rival Atletico Madrid and gave them just what they needed and weakened Barca at same time.

we were talking money wise. barcaman alluded to the fact we didn't make any notable transfers financially wise.

Whole season has been about what a signing Suarez has been for Atletico and what he had brought to them.. to point of being called best player in league. It is not a comparison of splashing cash and more trying to make out other teams not improved which is complete opposite of what was being argued before.
Barca have had massive obstacles to overcome this season which seem to be fine to be pointed out as errors or 'shit squad' bar Messi when losing but when might win it is all about Barca not having much to deal with and rivals not really improved either.

and he wasn't? they are top of the league with him scoring many important goals.
for us to be fighting for a CL spot, as barcaman said, it would have meant for valencia, villareal, sevilla or others to step up, transfer wise or improve massively. it would have meant that two other teams(not named atletico or real) would of have to be better than us.

Dont agree on him ever being best player in leagues despite the goals but a noteable signing if sign best player in league for free and take him from a rival. Cost is irrelevant. As if it would mean more to quality of Atletico squad had they paid 30/40/50m for him.
Cant compare that to Koeman getting a 20 yr old right back who is 'utter garbage'.
Depends what mean by fighting for CL places.. is it where will finish in top four and those places.. or trying to be there at all. Plenty of folk have said Barca would not compete and be struggling even for top four. Particularly after the start.

so atletico getting suarez for peanuts was hampering our chances of finishing in CL places?
yes ateltico, basically did the only 'big' transfer because suarez improved them from costa/morata. otherwise all clubs took a cautions approach and didn't splash the cash.
'fighting for CL places' means exactly that. if he would have said fighting for second or third it would have been another discussion.

You are the one that claimed Barca had made monumental error in selling him to a rival and he had won them the league and weakened Barca. Then make out Atletico.. but Atletico made no 'noteable' signings.
Barca not only didnt 'splash the cash' they let go of older players on big money and that includes your man Suarez which for some deeply weakened the squad. While others like Atletico improved massively apparently.
Fighting for CL places for me doesnt mean same as fighting to be in top four but more where will finish but either way can take it up with whoever claimed it and what they meant.

Don't know who said Barcelona would be fighting for a CL spot. They certainly shouldn't be, they have the best squad and team in the league, and better now than last year.
They didn't lose in the league since the start of december, only dropping points in three games since then. Because of the good form, Barcelona are now 2nd in the table, with a reasonable point/game overall. Had Barcelona kept the form they had until december, where they got 14 points out of their first 10 games, they would be sitting behind Real Sociedad right now, at 8th place.
It was expected that they'd start to play better, but some of the points won since then was won with quite a bit of luck as well, and it is expected that they will now lose a few more points in the last 9 games than they did since december...
