Leroy Sane

He's so bad at RW, Dembele-esque performance today, stick to hugging the touchline and making runs in behind, you dont have the talent to be asking the ball at your feet to create.

You're welcome
He had some solid passes, but think his head was not in the right place. Botched a few simple ones that could've led to a goal.

I have no idea why Bayern play him on the right wing. Do they think he's going to be the next Robben or something? Cutting inside and bending one in is something he might do once in a blue moon, but that's not really his game. He productivity for City always came on the left, either with great delivery or getting goals arriving at the back post.

Looked like Barto's signings in these two matches.

Both him and Koman.

Anyway, as the gap between big and small teams is getting larger each season, there are more and more players like Sane, Koman, Mats, Frenkie who look awesome against weak domestic opponents and who are horrible against stronger European opponents.

There will be more and more of these La Liga/BL/Seria A merchants.

The gap is getting smaller.

Is it? This is arguably Barcelona's worst squad in almost 20 years, we had our worst start ever since the early 2000s or more, and we're still easily going to make top 4. Bayern's about to get its 9th or some league title in a row. Top teams in Italy are all Europa league level and are running away with the league.

Barcelona in the mid 90s had Ronaldo score every game and it still wasn't enough to win a league title. Same thing in 2011-2012. Now our forwards are shit and we're still in the title race lmao.

To me it certainly looks like non-big teams are basically fodder now.

Who are those players that are consistently terrific against stronger European opponents?

There are no such players. BBZ's new shiny toys Mbappe and Haaland were pocketed by Firpo and Soyuncu. It's just an old man complaining about the modern state of football, romanticizing the past.

No joke, Di Maria seems to always show up in big games. Whether it's the world cup or UCL, that doesn't always lead to his team winning though.

Messi, Cr7. Obviously.
Aguero back when he was fit always turned it up against big sides. De Bruyne. Neymar...
Ribery and Robben were usually good too

Even if it was the case Sane was a small team killer it's well worth having a few of them in the squad. Which of our current forwards are a small team killer bar Messi? Dembele, 5 league goals, Griezmann, 8 league goals.

TBH Sane was a small team killer in 17-19, his current level's below that unfortunately.

His quality has dipped for sure, guess that's what happens after a serious injury, playing in the wrong position and going from Guardiola's Man City football to something different. He'll come good for them I reckon.

It's his decision making that lets him down. He does have quality and can impact a game but he's inconsistent. Was always the same at City, some weeks he looked unstoppable, the next useless.
