I think it is Rak at center forward. Good move, he has done well there for his country, he is the best available today for third forward. Or, 4-4-2, which makes sense when you only have 2 forwards who belong in the first 11.

No one is moving S. Roberto out of midfield. Semedo has not yet beaten out Vidal at RB. I sure as hell would rather see Vidal starting at RB against Alaves than against RM.

Did you see Vidal vs Real Madrid? They were walking past him. He can't defend AT ALL. Semedo and Roberto are both superior defensively. Vidal is only useful as a RW.

Vidal had same problems earlier.

Ladys and gentlemen EV is a genius. Benching semedo who showed more in his few minutes than vidal in all his days here. Brilliant....

Reverse psychology man. Valverde knows Semedo is the only true player who's really capable of playing as a RB and he doesn't want him to be too comfortable with his position in the team. Benching him will make Semedo more hungry and he'll realise that he can't just walk into the starting 11 every game.

Well, the transfer window is still open so if Rakitic is unhappy he could do us and the club a favor and leave.
This shouldn't be the way to manage a team and so far Valverde didn't seem to do it this way.
If Vidal indeed is a the RB I could only explain it with Valverde expecting Alaves to park the bus and wants a more attacking player at that position.
But if it's Roberto as a RB then it's a very strange decision given that he never used him as a RB before, not even in preseason so why would he do it now?
I think it will be Vidal at RB in a 4-2-3-1 system:

Alaves beat us at Camp Nou, last season. Because of it, we lost La Liga. I'll see everyone after the game.
