He is still the best player in the world. A tactical nightmare yes, but his output is still outrageous, levels above anyone.

He has been the best PLAYER for the last decade, it's the fact that many factors like teammates etc come into play that eventually affect not just trophies but the performance.

So... Player quality, performance, trophies... each tends to be dependent on each other and at most people think that trophies can be misleading and not performance. As a player he has always been way ahead of cr7 or anyone for that matter for the last decade.

So the Nigerian GK was saying that on top of facing Messi, the refs gave Argentina a lot of free kicks during the World Cup 2014 match.

The refs are saying that they know that it is difficult to face Messi.
