Lionel Messi - v7

In a 4-2-3-1 setup I don't like him as the 9. Would very much prefer him as the 10.

But Koeman is right to move him to the center if he's going to play there anyway.

Yeah, that was a dick move. Could have given the kid and Barca fans a nice moment to celebrate (not to mention he would have gotten praise for the generosity as well).

Jesus christ you guys will find everything to complain about. Letting someone else take the penalty is a generous exception, not a rule. This is why people say no good deed goes unpunished... Do a nice thing once and then people are screaming at you when you don't keep doing it forever.

Looked like crying for his best friend instead of focusing on his job on the pitch but imo he became better as game progressed. Almost missed that pk.

exactly. penalty came when we were 2-0 up in the first half. of course messi should take it. maybe if we were at 3-0 in the last 10 minutes...

you like to talk a lot of shit, don't you?

messi was ok overall, but the new role doesn't suit him. he clearly tried and never looked like sulking or not giving a shit.

Messi is penalty taker so no issue with him taking it.

Do folk think at 2-0 game is over and should out Fati CF and FKs etc to chase a hatrick?

Thought he was in the box way more than last season, just unlucky that none of the passes/crosses got to him. The amount of crosses Alba was making is positive, I’m sure loads of those will get to Messi in coming games if he keeps it up.

I think last season Lewandowski gave a few penalties to Coutinho to boost his confidence, then ends up losing the Golden Shoe by 1 goal to Immobile who scored 16 penalties last season, and whose teammates openly admitted to trying to get penalties so that Immobile could score more.

Certainly no good deed goes unpunished.

Still struggling to score from open play but in that role and with creative players around him (Coutinho, Pjanic, Fati) the goals should come. An attacking right back needed too.
